The next year could bring pretty interesting novelties to the Ram pickup lineup. If we consider that the F-150 has been redesigned a year ago, while the Super Duty lineup is about to get redesigned soon, as well as that Silverado and Sierra have been significantly updated, those reports that suggest a mid-cycle refresh for the entire Ram lineup make a lot of sense. Allegedly, we are about to see novelties in both light- and heavy-duty lineup.

Furthermore, we could also see some brand-new versions of Ram pickups. One of the rumors suggests the new Outdoorsman package with off-road features, while the TRX could get an even more powerful engine. On the other hand, the Rebel trim level could be introduced to the HD lineup as well. Finally, there is the matter of the all-electric version of the Ram 1500, while rumors about the Dakota revival are still circulating on the network.

2023 Ram 1500

The current generation of Ram’s light-duty pickup has been around since 2019. The 2023 Ram 1500 will represent the fifth production year and therefore, many experts believe that the next year’s model will bring up some updates. At this point, the officials are still quiet about details.

We presume that this update would bring some subtle exterior updates, such as new LED headlights, a slightly revised grille, new bumpers and similar things. However, most of the design solutions and features are about to remain the same.

Interior updates are expected as well. At the time the current generation was launched, Ram became the first pickup with a luxurious cabin. However, that’s not the case anymore, as rivals have caught up. Even the available 12.0-inch touchscreen isn’t an exclusive thing anymore, as the new F-150 and Silverado 1500 come with even bigger screens.

Naturally, this update would also bring more standard and available equipment. This particularly refers to tech features, as the infotainment system may be updated. On the other hand, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of the trim level organization, though new special versions are always possible.

On the other hand, we are not sure about the powertrain changes. The all-electric version won’t arrive before the 2024 model year. On the other hand, the current V6 and V8 engines are expected to come without more important updates. Also, Stellantis has recently presented the new Hurricane inline-six engine. It comes in two output variants, and we presume that this engine will eventually find its place under the hood of this pickup as well. At this point, we are not sure if this is going to happen in the next year.

We believe that the 2023 Ram 1500 will arrive sometime late in the year. The current model starts at around 34.000 dollars and we don’t expect bigger changes in this aspect for the next year.

2023 Ram 1500 EV

The all-electric Ram 1500 won’t come all that soon but it is definitely one of the most anticipated things in Ram’s lineup for the future. At this point, it looks like this truck will probably arrive as the 2024 model, which indicates we could see it by the end of 2023.

In any case, not many details are known about this pickup. The numbers in terms of power and battery capacity are still a mystery. Still, we know for sure that there will be two electric motors and standard all-wheel drive. Furthermore, unofficial reports suggest a max range of around 500 miles, while the max towing capacity should go around 10.000 pounds.

Also, we know that the company will try to make this truck relatively affordable. The latest reports suggest a starting price of around 45.000 dollars. For comparison, the F-150 Lightning will be $3.000 cheaper.

2023 Ram 1500 Rebel TRX

The Rebel TRX represents the most capable off-roader in Ram’s lineup. It comes with a full load of upgrades, which includes all kinds of off-road upgrades, as well as some pretty exclusive styling details. Still, the most important feature of this pickup is its engine. We are talking about the monstrous 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 Hellcat engine, which features a max output of 702 horsepower.

It looks like this engine could get even more power for the next year. It’s no secret that Ford is working on the new Raptor R, which will probably feature around 750 horsepower. So, we presume that Ram prepares an answer, which would come in the form of an upgraded Hellcat engine, probably with a max output of 790 horsepower. Besides more power, many experts hope that Ram will upgrade the mode selector and finally offer RWD mode.

The current model starts at around 77.500 dollars.

2023 Ram 1500 Hybrid

It looks like Ram is rather choosing to go fully electric instead of offering hybrid versions. The all-electric version is expected to arrive in a year or two, while the mild-hybrid powertrains will remain the only hybrids on the offer. Therefore, the 2023 Ram 1500 Hybrid will continue in the same way, without more important updates.

The company offers a so-called eTorque system, which is a mild 48-V hybrid system. It is part of the standard equipment in models with the 3.6-liter V6, which puts out 305 horsepower. On the other hand, the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 comes with or without this system, depending on your preferences. In both cases, the max output is 395 horsepower, though the eTorque system provides additional torque during acceleration and has a small impact on fuel economy.

2023 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman

Some sources suggest that Ram could revive the Outdoorsman package. This version was available about a decade ago and it was characterized by all kinds of upgrades, primarily in terms of towing and off-road features. We may expect something similar from the 2023 Ram 1500 Outdoorsman, though we are pretty sure that the company will tend to keep it affordable.

We presume that this package would be offered to rival the new F-150 Rattler. In other words, this version would be based on the most basic variants of the pickup, while the main upgrades would come in terms of locking rear differential, off-road tires and similar things. On the other hand, the list of standard equipment won’t include too many convenience features, which will keep this truck affordable.

2023 Ram 1500 Diesel

While Ford has discontinued the diesel version, the 2023 Ram 1500 Diesel will carry on in the same way. The next year’s model will continue with the well-known V6 engine from VM Motori, which will be available across the whole range. This engine is a great choice for those who are looking for a great balance between capability and efficiency.

This is by far the most efficient version of the Ram pickup. You may count on about 22 mpg in the city and an impressive 32 mpg on the highway. At the same time, the engine features a pretty impressive 480 pound-feet of torque, which is one of the reasons why Ram pickups with this engine can tow up to 12.560 pounds.

Another good thing to know is that this engine is available across the whole range. So, the base Tradesman with a diesel engine costs around 39.000 dollars.

2023 Ram HD Truck

If Ram is about to update the light-duty model, we presume the same updates would affect the HD lineup. This would mean all kinds of visual updates, particularly at the front end. This area would bring new LED headlights, some grille revisions and similar things. On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle should remain unchanged.

Interior updates are also possible, though we are pretty sure that these changes will be very subtle. Simply, the current model already features the nicest cabin in the class, characterized by quality materials and lots of available tech and convenience features. Also, we count on the same trim level organization, though each model could come with a couple of new standard features.

Things under the hood shouldn’t change, at least when it comes to the standard models. So, you may count on two familiar units, one gasoline and one diesel engine. The gasoline models should continue with a 6.4-liter V8, which puts out around 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, as well as with a smooth-shifting 8-speed ZF transmission.

On the other hand, diesel models will continue to use the good-old 6-speed Aisin transmission, which probably won’t be replaced before the complete redesign, despite the rumors. Diesel models will continue with the well-known 6.7-liter inline-six from Cummins, which comes in two output variants. Base versions are good for about 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque, while more capable variants feature 420 horsepower and 1.075 pound-feet of torque. It’s worth mentioning that the more capable version of the engine will remain available in the 3500HD model only.

We expect that the 2023 Ram HD Trucks will arrive sometime in the second half of the year, without bigger changes in terms of the price. The current models start at around 41.000 dollars.

2023 Ram 2500

The 3/4-ton version of the Ram HD pickup will come with all the aforementioned updates but we have no doubt that the overall layout will remain the same. Compared to the light-duty model, this pickup comes with upgrades regarding chassis and suspension setup, while we can also see a more rugged styling.

This pickup offers a great balance between comfort and capability. It is the most comfortable pickup in the class, thanks to the pretty refined suspension setup. At the same time, you may count on a pretty impressive max towing capacity, which goes up to 20.000 pounds, while the max payload capacity goes over 4.000 pounds.

The trim level organization should remain unchanged and include the following versions: Tradesman, Big Horn, Lone Star, Power Wagon, Laramie, Limited Longhorn and Limited.

2023 Ram 2500 Rebel

It looks like the Rebel trim could be added to the HD lineup as well. According to certain rumors, the company is working on such a version, which would represent an off-road-focused version of the pickup. We would see a couple of off-road upgrades, though the Power Wagon would remain the most capable off-roader in the lineup.

This version would come with certain suspension upgrades, and probably with a limited-slip differential and upgraded tires. We would also expect to see a couple of exclusive styling details, such as more rugged bumpers, blacked exterior trim, unique wheels and similar things. Also, we presume that this version would also come with a gasoline engine only.

2023 Ram 2500 Power Wagon

The Power Wagon will remain the best off-roader in the Ram 2500 lineup. This model comes with all kinds of upgrades and exclusive features. You may count on an off-road-tuned suspension setup, as well as on standard four-wheel drive, two-speed transfer case and locking front and rear differentials. You may also count on disconnecting sway bar, all-terrain tires, skid plates etc.

Besides mechanical upgrades, this model also comes with a couple of exclusive styling details, such as the blacked grille and exterior trim, unique 17-inch wheels and similar things. The Power Wagon is available only with a 6.4-liter V8 gasoline engine.

Another thing we should mention is that the Power Wagon is available only in a Crew Cab layout, while the starting price goes around 59.000 dollars.

2023 Ram 3500

The 2023 Ram 3500 would come with the same updates. We would see some styling updates and more standard features but the overall layout would remain largely the same. Of course, the best thing about this pickup is a fantastic balance between capabilities and ride quality.

Just like the 2500 model, the 1-ton pickup also comes with both gasoline and diesel engines on the offer. However, you can also get a more capable version of the Cummins turbodiesel inline-six engine in this case, which puts out 420 horsepower and 1.075 pound-feet of torque. With all that power and torque, you may count on the max towing capacity that goes over 37.000 pounds. The max payload capacity goes over 6.000 pounds.

The 2023 Ram 3500 should feature a starting price of around 40.000 dollars.

2023 Ram Dakota

Rumors about Dakota’s comeback have been circulating around for years and it looks like something could finally happen. According to the latest rumors, the well-known nameplate will be revived already in the next year and there is no doubt that the new model would also compete in the segment of mid-size pickup trucks, which is getting more and more popular these days.

Considering the size, it’s pretty easy to conclude that the new 2023 Ram Dakota would have most things in common with the Jeep Gladiator. The two models would share the platform and most of the mechanics. Still, the new Dakota would come with a little bit different design approach.

In the case of Dakota, we presume that the Ram management would tend to make this pickup more affordable. Therefore, we presume that the single cab version would come as well. Also, we presume that some smaller engine options would be in the game too. Besides the capable 3.6-liter V6, we would also expect to see a four-cylinder engine and that could easily be FCA’s familiar 2.0- liter turbo-four.

However, it’s important to keep in mind that the 2023 Ram Dakota is just a rumor for now. The officials are still quiet and the actual chances to see this nameplate revived aren’t all that big. Still, we presume that things could become clearer in the next few months.
