2023 Ram 3500 Could Receive Mid-Cycle Update

0

Ram’s most capable HD pickup has always been famous for excellent capabilities but the current model has completely changed the game with its impressive ride quality and interior design. That’s why many consider it the best in the class. Logically, the company wants to retain that position, so it’s no wonder that various reports suggest an update for the 2023 Ram 3500, which will represent the fourth production year of the current generation.

At this point, we don’t know the details but we may presume that this possible update would bring things like new aesthetics and new features. Also, we can hear rumors about the new transmission for the diesel version. On the other hand, the overall layout will certainly remain the same and we have no doubt that this pickup will continue to offer an excellent balance between performances and comfort.

We expect to see the 2023 Ram 3500 sometime in the second half of the next year.

2023 Ram 3500 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, there is a big chance to see the 2023 Ram 3500 with big updates. Many reports suggest a mid-cycle refresh and while the officials are still quiet, we can make some basic predictions. If we consider that the current model already offers class-leading comfort and performance, it’s quite obvious that if the company is about to update this model, it will put focus on aesthetics.

So, this could be a typical facelift, with visual changes mostly at the front. We presume that the new model could bring slight revisions to the grille, bumper and similar areas. However, we are also pretty sure that most of the changes would be quite subtle.

Interior

On the other hand, we don’t believe that the 2023 Ram 3500 could come with too many changes on the inside. The base cabin design will certainly remain the same, though certain versions could come with new interior schemes, new materials and similar things. Still, keep in mind that the current cabin is already the nicest in the class, as it brings attractive aesthetics, nice materials and lots of available tech features.

Of course, you may count on familiar configurations on the offer. There will be three cab styles on offer – Regular Cab, Crew Cab and Mega Cab. Also, you have a choice between the standar 6.4-foot cargo bed and long 8-foot unit.

2023 Ram 3500 Engines

Things under the hood should remain the same too. So, base versions will continue with a gasoline engine, with a 6.4-liter V8 HEMI, which puts out around 410 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes in pair with an excellent 8-speed ZF-sourced automatic transmission.

There are also two diesel variants available. Both use the same 6.7-liter inline-six turbodiesel from Cummins, and the base version puts out 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. The more powerful version is good for about 400 horsepower and 1.075 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to ensure class-leading towing capacity, which goes up to 37.100 pounds.

Some sources also speculate about the new transmission for the diesel version. The current model uses a 6-speed automatic from Aisin and many believe that this gearbox could be replaced with something with more gears. We can hear rumors about the 10-speed Allison, but something similar from Aisin could be installed too. More details should come in the future.

Trim Levels

Of course, this update will probably bring novelties in terms of standard and available equipment but the trim level organization will remain the same. So, the Tradesman will remain the entry-level model, equipped with basic features only, such as manual accessories, steel wheels, vinyl upholstery, 5-inch touchscreen etc. The Big Horn will continue as the first upgrade, with features like power locks and windows, cloth upholstery, chrome bumpers etc.

The Laramie will continue as a perfect mid-range option, equipped with leather upholstery, 8.4-inch touchscreen, upgraded audio system, power-adjustable pedals, dual-zone climate control and many more. Longhorn and Limited will remain the most luxurious trim levels, which gradually add more and more convenience features.

2023 Ram 3500 Release Date and Price

We expect to see 2023 Ram 3500 sometime in the second half of 2022, with the starting price of around 39.000 dollars. Of course, Ford F-350 and Chevy Silverado 3500 will remain key competitors.
