By The fastest pickup truck in the world has been around for about three years and it looks like we could see some changes in the next year, with the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX. Allegedly, the company plans a mid-cycle refresh, even though we haven’t heard anything from the officials yet. Rumors, on the other hand, suggest different kinds of updates, such as new aesthetics and new interior features, while there are also some revisions expected regarding the powertrain.
There’s no doubt that such an update would make this pickup even more exciting. However, it wouldn’t change the overall character of the vehicle. We would still see a super-fast desert runner, which offers some pretty respectable off-road capabilities. At the same time, this pickup looks cool and brings up excellent exhaust notes, while the cabin remains refined and fully loaded with features.
Considering the possible updates, there’s a chance to see a little bit earlier arrival than usual, though still within the second half of the year.
2024 Ram 1500 TRX Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX might get a mid-cycle refresh. That update would probably bring some novelties regarding visual appearance. We might see some changes to the front end, as a part of a facelift that would affect the whole RAM 1500 lineup. However, the exlusive styling details would carry and the next year’s TRX would come with all those features that emphasize its rugged nature.
Still, TRX enthusiasts are way more interested in the mechanical aspect of the truck and there, we don’t expect to see any bigger changes. The 2024 Ram 1500 TRX will continue with all those upgrades, starting from the impressive off-road suspension that provides 13 inches of travel. Of course, there are massive 35-inch tires, which are part of the reason why this pickup offers an impressive 11.8 inches of ground clearance. The front wheels are backed up with massive 15-inch brakes, while there is also a limited-slip differential, for improved off-road performance.
Interior
Although a rugged off-roader, the TRX feels super refined from the inside and we have no doubt that the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX will continue in the same way. Of course, further updates are always possible but most things will certainly remain the same. Therefore, count on a refined cabin, with excellent sound insulation and high-quality materials, along with a couple of exclusive details that accentuate the TRX’s character. Base models should continue with cloth upholstery, while the leather interior should be offered with optional packages. Furthermore, count on a long list of standard and available equipment.
Just like the current model, the new one should come only in a Crew Cab configuration, with a short cargo bed.
Features
As we’ve just mentioned, this update would probably bring a couple of interesting novelties regarding the standard and available equipment. We might see some additions but keep in mind that the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It comes standard with goodies like a 12.0-inch infotainment screen, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, along with navigation and SiriusXM satellite radio. Furthermore, you can also opt for upgrades like a capable 19-speaker audio system, a digital rearview mirror, a head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats etc.
The same thing is with safety features, where we might see a few additions to the list of standard equipment. The current model offers a good number of safety features but most of them are optional. For example, there are lane-departure warnings, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control etc. We presume some of these could become a part of standard equipment.
2024 Ram 1500 TRX Engine and Drivetrain
We have finally come to the most interesting part of the TRX and from what we know so far, the engine will carry on without changes. We are talking about a super-capable 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 engine, which puts out 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to move this large and heavy truck from zero to sixty in just 3.7 seconds. The engine comes in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission and from what we know so far, there could be some revisions regarding the drivetrain.
Namely, the current model offers various traction control modes. It also comes with a limited-slip differential. However, it also comes with a permanent 4×4 system which, although amazing, kills a little bit of potential fun. It would be amazing to have a choice to send all that power to rear wheels only, so it’s no wonder that some sources suggest that the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX could come with RWD mode as well. At this point, the officials are still quiet on this matter.
2024 Ram 1500 TRX Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Ram 1500 TRX will arrive sometime in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 87.000 dollars.
