By GMC’s HD pickup is about to receive a mid-cycle refresh and from what we can see, new aesthetics won’t be the only novelty. This update will also bring big powertrain upgrades, while the company also prepares two new trim levels. One of them will be the off-road version, which will come as the 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X. It will be the toughest variant of the truck, equipped with all kinds of off-road features, including upgraded suspension, locking differentials etc.
Of course, this model will also benefit from the novelties that are part of a mid-cycle refresh. We are talking not just about the new styling, but also about the all-new interior, which will follow Sierra 1500’s example and bring finer materials and a new dashboard design, with loads of new tech goodies.
2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X will be a new trim level on offer. It will be the most capable off-roader, with several extra features over the standard AT4. One of the first things that come to mind is the upgraded suspension and we know for sure that this pickup will feature MultiMatic DSSV dampers, along with massive 35-inch mud-terrain tires. Furthermore, this pickup should come standard with front and rear locking differential, skid plates and many other off-road features.
Of course, we also count on a good number of exclusive styling details, which will accentuate the model’s off-road nature. Also, the 2024 Sierra HD AT4X will benefit from mid-cycle updates and feature all the novelties that will be introduced to the rest of the lineup, including new LED headlights, front face etc.
Interior
Big novelties are coming on the inside, where the 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X will feature an updated cabin, which brings a significant improvement over the current cabin design. There is an all-new dashboard design, with more elegant aesthetics, improved ergonomics and much finer materials and build quality. Furthermore, you can find lots of new tech features, and we expect that this particular version will come standard with goodies like a digital instrument cluster, 13.4-inch infotainment screen, navigation, and is wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The test mule was spotted in a crew cab layout and we presume this will be the only cab style on offer. This means that the new Sierra HD AT4X will be pretty generous with space, accommodating adult passengers in both rows with ease.
2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X Engines
Big novelties are expected under the hood as well. Base models will carry on with a familiar 6.6-liter naturally-aspirated V8 gasoline engine, which puts out around 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. The big novelty is that this engine will get a new transmission, where the old 6-speed automatic will be replaced with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission, the one that has been exclusive for the diesel version so far.
The diesel version will continue with the same transmission but on the other hand, the engine will get a notable power boost. The good-old 6.6-liter V8 turbodiesel will be rated at 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque, which is an increase that will certainly have a positive impact on the overall performance.
As we’ve mentioned, both engines will come coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission and, off-course, four-wheel drive will be standard.
2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 GMC Sierra HD AT4X will arrive sometime in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 72.000 dollars. Key competitors will be models like Ram Power Wagon, Chevy Silverado HD ZR2 etc.
