2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD Gets Mid-Cycle Refresh

0

The 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD is on the way and it is about to bring a lot of interesting novelties. We are about to see a so-called mid-cycle refresh, and it will be a pretty comprehensive one, with changes in various aspects. The new model won’t get just new styling, but other upgrades as well, which will have a significant impact on the truck’s capabilities, ride quality and convenience.

As we’ve just mentioned, styling isn’t the only aspect of the truck to get updates. We are about to see significant powertrain upgrades, as well as a new interior design, with new styling and way more features. Finally, the company prepares two new versions, Denali Ultimate and AT4X, which will make this truck way more competitive in the segment where key rivals are Ford F-250 and RAM 2500.

So, the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD is getting a mid-cycle refresh. From what we can see, the new HD pickup will follow the path of its half-ton sibling. In other words, we are about to see similar changes in terms of aesthetics. The new versions will bring a lot of novelties on both ends of the vehicle, though those at the front will be more significant, of course.

There are also two new trim levels in the works. One of them is called Denali Ultimate and it will be the new range-topping version. It will bring further upgrades over the “standard” Denali, with blacked wheels and a lot of blacked chrome details. The other one is called AT4X and it will represent an off-road version of the pickup. While details are still unavailable, we expect to see all kinds of off-road goodies, including standard four-wheel drive, low-range gearing, locking differential, skid plates etc.

Interior

Just like the half-ton sibling recently did, the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD will also get a completely new cabin design. After years of waiting, we will finally see an interior redesign, with a completely new dashboard. The new dash looks way more upscale, thanks to new aesthetics, which incorporate lots of horizontal lines, a new center console, new tech goodies and nice materials.

Besides the new look, the new cabin also brings lots of new features. You may count on all kinds of available features, such as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 13.4-inch infotainment screen, 15-inch head-up display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay etc. Furthermore, there are new available safety systems, such as rear cross-traffic braking and trailer-side side blind-spot monitoring.

2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD Engines

As we already mentioned, the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD will bring important powertrain upgrades. The base 6.6-liter V8 will keep the same output, which goes around 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. However, it will get a new 10-speed automatic transmission, instead of an old 6-speed unit. We have no doubt the new transmission will have a big impact on the overall performance and driving experience.

On the other hand, the diesel was already coupled with a 10-speed automatic and this time, the upgrade will bring more power. Instead of 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque, it will now have 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque. What’s worth mentioning is that the engine gets a new turbocharger, which will provide 25% more low-end torque. The max towing capacity will go around 22.500 pounds.
