2023 Ram 2500 Rebel: What to Expect

0

The famous truck maker is preparing a mid-cycle update for its HD lineup, according to the latest reports. If we consider that the current generation has been around since 2019, this makes a lot of sense. Of course, this update is about to bring a lot of novelties and besides the updates and upgrades of the current model, it will also bring completely new versions. One of them will be the 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel, which will be the first Rebel in the HD lineup.

So far, the Rebel trim was reserved for the 1500 model. Therefore, we presume that the HD version will use a pretty similar approach, whether it’s about mechanical upgrades or exclusive styling and interior details. Also, some sources speculate about the possibility to offer the new Rebel with a diesel engine as well.

2023 Ram 2500 Rebel Design

Design-wise, we believe that the 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel would come as a little bit lighter off-roader than the Power Wagon. It would be positioned below, with a slightly lower price tag. Of course, this would probably mean the lack of off-road features, such as front and rear locking differentials, two-speed transfer case etc. On the other hand, we would see an electric locking rear differential, along with a little bit different suspension setup.

Visually, we expect that this model will adopt some of the styling bits from the Power Wagon, especially in terms of the black exterior trim. However, we count on some pretty exclusive details too. Finally, keep in mind the upcoming mid-cycle refresh, which will bring new styling elements to the complete lineup.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, we don’t expect to see a significant amount of exclusive features. Instead, most of the cabin will look familiar, while the list of exclusive goodies should include upgraded bucket seats, a combination of vinyl and cloth upholstery, rubber floor mats etc.

On the other hand, the overall cabin layout should remain largely the same, with familiar design characteristics and features. The Ram 2500 already features the nicest cabin in the segment, with quality materials and pretty impressive build quality. The new Rebel would come with a long list of standard equipment, including tech goodies like the vertically-oriented 12-inch touchscreen, upgraded audio system, new connectivity features and a lot of advanced safety and driver-assistance systems.

We expect that the 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel will be available in Crew Cab and Mega Cab layouts.

2023 Ram 2500 Rebel Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, there is no room for surprises. The 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel would come with a good-old 6.4-liter HEMI V8, which puts out 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet at the moment. Of course, we would exclude the possibility to see some power and torque upgrades for the next year’s refresh. On the other hand, an 8-speed transmission would definitely remain, while four-wheel drive would be standard.

Some sources also speculate about the possibility to see this version available with a diesel engine. Of course, we are talking about the well-known 6.7-liter inline-six Cummins turbodiesel, which would come in a version that puts out around 420 horsepower and 1.075 pound-feet of torque. At this point, the officials are still quiet on this matter.

2023 Ram 2500 Rebel Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel sometime in the last quarter of the year, along with the rest of the updated lineup. When it comes to the price, it is still early for more precise estimations. Still, we believe it could go somewhere between 50.000 and 55.000 dollars.
