As one of the biggest car brands in the world, Chevy has always been characterized by a wide range of all kinds of vehicles in the offer. Still, they are probably best known for amazing pickup trucks and SUVs.

When it comes to trucks, this company has a pretty wide lineup, and all of its models are known for the same great things. Those would be excellent performances, attractive designs, lots of latest technologies and design solutions, as well as above-average reliability.

The next year is about to bring a lot of interesting things, as the new HD models are coming, while the rest of the lineup is also about to come with notable novelties.

All New Chevy Silverado 1500

Let’s start with the company’s best-selling truck. The Silverado 1500 has been redesigned completely last year. We saw a lot of new technologies and design solutions and have no doubt that many of them will find the place in the upcoming models as well.

The first thing that comes to mind is a new platform. With it, the new truck is more efficient and offers better driving characteristics. More importantly, working characteristics have been improved.

When it comes to the exterior design, the first thing that you’ll notice is a new styling, characterized by air curtains and several more interesting design solutions. Also, it is important to notice that the new model is slightly bigger, particularly in terms of the cabin sizes.

Therefore, it seems obvious that you can count on more space on the inside. This particularly refers to the rear legroom, but we should mention that bed capacity has been increased as well.

Also, this brought a lot of new technologies, including a new, super-intuitive and easy-to-use infotainment system.

2020 Chevy Silverado 1500

The engine offer is wide, as you can count on four engines. Besides two familiar V8 units, the Silverado 1500 is now also available with a new turbo-four, as well as with a diesel engine. This leaves you far more space to choose the right powertrain for you, especially if you want something more efficient, something that would ensure much better mpg ratings.

Unfortunately, some aspects of the redesign didn’t meet our expectations. This particularly refers to the interior design, which looks pretty similar to the previous generation. Changes are mild, and we expected much more. Also, some materials feature a pretty disappointing quality.

All in all, the new Silverado is an amazing truck and could be even better if some of the rumored novelties for the next year come.

How much does a Chevy Silverado 1500 weight?

We saw a lot of improvements with this redesign and one of them is significant weight reduction. The new T1 platform utilizes a lot of lightweight materials, so it’s no wonder that the new model is for about 300 pounds lighter than the previous generation.

Therefore, the Regular Cab now weighs around 4.470 pounds, while both Double Cab and Crew Cab models weigh less than 4.800 pounds in their base versions.

How much can a Chevy Silverado 1500 tow?

Max towing capacity for the Chevy Silverado 1500 largely depends on the engine choice. Still, we must say that the numbers are pretty amazing no matter the powertrain choice. Even the new turbo-four is very capable. With its 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, it can tow up to 11.600 pounds.

Of course, V8 units are better but the difference isn’t that significant, as the max towing capacity goes around 12.200 pounds.

Details about the new diesel version are still unavailable but we have no doubt that the numbers will be amazing as well.

What’s new for the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500?

The 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 will represent the second production year of the new generation. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see many novelties introduced.

Besides typical things like new exterior colors and additions in terms of standard features, there are three new versions that could potentially come for the next year.

Of course, the first one that comes to mind is Silverado ZR2. We all know what this badge means, so there’s no need for some special introduction.

On the other side, the other two seem interesting as well. Those would be Silverado Scottsdale and Silverado Cheyenne. Older generations may remember the former one, as this nameplate was used for the last time more than four decades ago, for a mid-range trim level.

The Cheyenne is also a well-known name and should feature plenty of distinctive details as well.

2020-Chevy-Silverado-ZR2-front

The last but not the least is an expected addition of MultiPro Tailgate and CarboPro box, which already debuted in the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500.

2020 Chevy Silverado ZR2 Off-Road Pickup Truck

The Silverado ZR2 is definitely one of the most interesting novelties that are about to come in the next year. Allegedly, the testing model has been already spotted, but most of the features are still unknown due to a massive camouflage.

In Chevy’s lineup, the new model will take the place about the Colorado ZR2. This model came a couple of years ago. It is designed as a hi-performance off-road truck and the company put a lot of effort into its development. Today, it is one of the most off-road capable mid-size trucks around, along with the Tacoma TRD Pro.

Of course, the Silverado ZR2 will be far more ambitious, as it is about to compete with the amazing F-150 Raptor. Therefore, we count on a full load of upgrades, in both visual and mechanical aspects.

2020-Chevy-Silverado-ZR2 off road

The first thing that comes to mind is the aspect of mechanics. In order to feature best-possible off-road performance, this truck will have to undergo some serious modifications.

Of course, this primarily refers to new suspension setup, with new shocks, higher ground clearance and much more. Also, count on a large portion of advanced off-roading aids.

Another thing that bothers us is the engine. The Raptor is good for about 450 horsepower but, more importantly, it is also very lights. The new Silverado is heavier and if we add a heavy V8 engine, it’s clear it will have to be much more powerful in order to provide equal performances.

Therefore, many reports suggest a more powerful version of a familiar 6.2-liter V8 engine, probably tuned to somewhere between 550 and 600 horsepower.

Finally, count on a full portion of visual updates. There should be a lot of new details that would accentuate the model’s hi-performance character. This refers to both exterior and interior designs.

Yenko Silverado Possible For 2020?!

Amazing versions of Chevy models don’t necessarily have to come directly from the factory. Yenko is probably the best example. This tuning company has been named after Don Yenko, the legendary racer, and dealer of Chevy models. At first, this company was upgrading Camaro’s and other sports cars, but we can find truck these days as well.

2020-Chevy-Yenko-Silverado

This wouldn’t be the first time to see a hi-performance Silverado under this badge. The previous generation already had this kind on an upgrade. For that occasion, we saw numerous upgrades, both in terms of mechanics and aesthetics.

Of course, the most interesting part of this truck is the engine. The previous-generation model uses a supercharged 6.8-liter V8 engine, which is tuned to impressive 800 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque.

Also, there are numerous chassis upgrades, starting from a completely revised suspension. This truck sits much lower and features custom dampers, sway bars, brakes and other components. The result is a lower center of gravity and significantly improved handling.

Furthermore, there are various aesthetical upgrades. From the outside, you can notice a lot of interesting details, including a new set of wheels, new colors, bumpers, etc. When it comes to interior design, you can easily notice new seats, new upholstery, color schemes, and many more things.

Given all these upgrades, we can presume that the new 2020 Yenko Silverado will go in the same direction. Normally, we would expect things to be even better. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for the details.

Still, we have no doubt that Yenko will once again rework this truck and offer something amazing.

2020 Silverado Could Offer A Plug-in Hybrid Variant

Rumors about a hybrid version of this truck have been circulating for a pretty long time. Besides Chevy, other truck makers are also planning electrified versions in the future.

Of course, the list starts with Toyota, but Ford and Ram share the ambition as well. For Chevy, to be first in this aspect seems like a matter of prestige, so don’t be surprised to see a plug-in Silverado already in the next year.

A good thing for Chevy is the fact that some companies already made several versions of the previous-generation Silverado. More precisely, companies like VIA and Workhorse have been specialized in upgrading various GM models.

Among them is the K2-platform Silverado. Practically, it features a relatively familiar hybrid system, which is based on Chevy’s well-known 4.3-liter V6 engine. This gasoline unit is paired with a pretty large 23-kWh battery and relatively hi-output electric motors. The result is significantly improved efficiency and reduced fuel costs.

Chevy’s well-known 4.3-liter V6 engine

Therefore, there’s no reason why Chevy wouldn’t do the same things. Allegedly, the plan is to offer a highly-capable plug-in hybrid powertrain, which would combine some of the existing gasoline engines with a hi-capacity battery pack and powerful electric motor.

Unfortunately, details are still unknown. However, reliable sources suggest that GM is aiming to an all-electric range of 40-50 miles, which would be more than enough for daily use of most drivers.

Benefits will be numerous, starting from a better fuel economy, more torque etc. The price will be high but keep in mind tax benefits, which would significantly reduce the price gap between gasoline and electrified models.

As we already mentioned, other manufacturers are also planning electrified versions. However, most reports suggest that Chevy will be the only one to offer a plug-in setup, while the competitors will rather offer conventional hybrid powertrains.

2020 Chevy Silverado HD models – New Design and More Power

Without any doubt, the 2020 Chevy Silverado HD is the most exciting novelty for the next year. The new generation of heavy-duty models is about to come with a lot of improvements. Of course, it will be based on light-duty 1500 models, but also feature tons of distinctive design solutions.

The most notable difference compared to light-duty models is in the styling. You can see a significant departure in aesthetics, as the Silverado HD comes with a far more rugged approach.

The new truck looks more massive and comes with a completely different front face. We believe it will be a dividing point for many potential buyers, as it comes with some pretty radical design solutions. Among numerous interesting details, there is also a new grille which features the brand’s lettering, instead of the famous Chevy badge.

Many purists won’t like it, but a good thing is that the flagship High Country trim will stick to a more traditional approach. It will come with a chromed grille that features a traditional badge, so should be the first choice for traditional Silverado buyers.

2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 HD

Still, most potential buyers will be more interested in Silverado’s mechanics and capabilities. The first thing to mention is a new gasoline engine. It is an all-new 6.6 gasoline unit that delivers around 400 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque and comes paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

On the other side, a well-known 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel has remained the same. It delivers the same amount of power, which goes around 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque, but comes with a new 10-speed automatic transmission.

Still, the new chassis ensures significant improvements in terms of towing capacity, as the new model is better for more than 50 percent. With a diesel engine, it goes all-away up to 35.500 pounds, which sounds pretty impressive.

New 2020 Chevy Silverado HD models will hit the market sometime in the third quarter of the year.

How Much Can the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado HD Tow?

As we already mentioned, the new generation of these HD pickup trucks will bring significant improvements in terms of max towing capacity. It will go way over 30.000 pounds in most capable version.

f you don’t want to wait for the new generation, or just want to get a used Silverado of the outgoing generation, keep in mind that the towing capacity is significantly smaller, as it goes between 14.000 and 22.000 pounds, depending on the version.

2020 Chevrolet Kodiak Chassis Cab: 4500HD, 5500HD

While the heavy-duty lineup is about to come with plenty of significant novelties, medium-duty models will carry on in the pretty much same way.

The reason is simple. These trucks aren’t old at all. They have been introduced just a couple of years ago, to be a replacement for the Chevy Kodiak models.

Considering that these are primarily hard-working mules, production cycles are usually much longer compared to passenger-oriented models. That would mean that the 4500 and 5500 models will carry on without more important changes.

In practice, this would mean highly capable and multi-configurable versions. It’s not hard to realize that these are Class 4 and Class 5 vehicles, so the focus is on working capabilities. Of course, both models come in a typical Chassis Cab layout, with the ability to be configured for all kinds of commercial purposes.

2020 Chevy Silverado 4500

Besides a lot of configurations, another quality of this truck is a reliable and efficient engine. Of course, we are talking about a well-known 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbodiesel engine, which comes in a special version, designed for these trucks.

Therefore, a max output has been tuned down to 350 horsepower. Also, it features a specially-designed Allison transmission, which ensures excellent working performances. A max towing capacity goes up to 22.000 pounds.

Despite being a working machine with amazing performances, these trucks also have a lot of comfort and convenience to offer. The cabin is quite spacious and comfortable, while the overall build quality includes some fine materials as well. Finally, there is a decent amount of tech goodies, for better riding experience.

What to Expect from the 2020 Chevy Colorado?

Not so long ago, mid-size trucks were almost a dying segment. Today, things are much different and we are getting more and more models every year. This was one of the first models that came back to the market. That happened almost five years ago, so it seems like a perfect time to see some updates.

The competition is getting stronger, so we should see a big portion of updates for the next year. Although we still don’t have any official details, we can presume some of the key changes.

The first thing that comes to mind is styling. The Colorado definitely isn’t the prettiest model in the class, which seems logical considering that the current generation actually dates from 2012, when this model was launched in Australia. Therefore, expect to see a new face, as well as changes in other areas of the truck.

2020 Chevy Colorado

The interior should also receive a couple of novelties. The first thing that comes to mind is the addition of new standard equipment, but it looks like we could see changes on the dashboard as well. Some reports also suggest a push-button start and a sunroof.

When it comes to the powertrain, there is a chance to see a new turbo-four in the offer. This engine recently debuted in the new Silverado. It features 2.7 liters in displacement and a max output of 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Also, some reports are suggesting a new 10-speed automatic gearbox.

Besides these essentials, there is also a chance to see a couple of new special versions in the offer. One of them is ZR2 Bison, which should be the most capable version of the truck we have seen so far. High Country is another new trim level we could see in the offer.

2020 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison

What’s new for the 2020 Chevy Colorado ZR2 off-road Pickup?

Like the rest of the lineup, the 2020 Chevy Colorado ZR2 will also receive a mid-cycle update. Therefore, count on an updated styling, new interior, more standard equipment and various other upgrades.

If the new turbo-four engine arrives, it will definitely find its place under the hood of this version. Currently, this version is available with both V6 gasoline and turbodiesel engine.

All in all, changes will be numerous. Still, keep in mind that all these distinctive features, which are actually the essentials for this version, are about to remain unchanged. This refers to all those upgrades that make this truck so unique.

In terms of mechanics, that would mean a suspension that features upgrades like MultiMatic shocks, as well as front and rear locking differential. Of course, off-road aids like hill descent control will be standard features as well.

Finally, count on several distinctive styling details that accentuate its rugged, off-road character.

Chevrolet plans do not include a revival of Avalanche

Despite the fact that the Avalanche was never a successful model, rumors about its revival intrigued many of us. Now, it’s official – the new generation of the Avalanche definitely won’t come. Moreover, it’s not in the company’s plans for the future either.

For those who are unfamiliar with this name, it was a pickup truck that was in the offer for a full 12 years, between 2001 and 2013. However, slow sales sealed its future.

It was designed as a more comfort-oriented alternative, to working trucks such as Silverado. Therefore, it was heavily related to models like Tahoe and Suburban, in order to provide a higher level of refinement. Cadillac also had the same idea, so we can all remember that funny-looking Escalade EXT.

2020 Chevrolet Avalanche

Fifteen years ago, these models even seemed logical in some way. These days, Silverado and other truck already come in various trim levels and some of them are characterized by an amazing dose of luxury and refinement, so there is really no need for another model in the lineup.

New Chevy El Camino is just a rumor

In the past few years, there have been lots of reports about El Camino’s comeback. The (in)famous model ended its production decades ago. It was imagined as a car that would take the best from two worlds. The interesting idea of a sports coupe with a cargo bed never managed to make a real breakthrough, but many car enthusiasts still highly appreciate this car.

Moreover, such vehicles still exist in certain parts of the world, particularly in Australia. Holden SS is definitely one of the most interesting cars you can find on the roads of this continent, so many enthusiasts started to want something similar in other parts of the world.

That’s the main reason why we can see numerous reports about the new El Camino. According to these rumors, the new model would arrive as a real sports coupe/UTE, with excellent performances.

In practice, that would mean a close relationship with the current-generation Camaro. The legendary muscle car would borrow the platform and pretty much complete mechanics.

Moreover, we would see a lot of similarities in terms of mechanics. The two models would feature pretty much the same front ends and overall design language, while the cabin would probably be the same, at least when it comes to the dashboard design.

2020 Chevrolet El camino

Finally, this would involve the same engines as well. The offer would probably start with six cylinders, while the higher trims would feature GM’s familiar V8 with plenty of power that would provide excellent performances.

All these things sound great, but chances to see the new Chevy El Camino are not even minimal. They don’t exist at all. Unfortunately, it will remain just a nice sounding rumor. Simply, there is no place for such experiments in today’s automotive industry.

Chevrolet Cheyenne Available in Mexico

For those who are unfamiliar with this name, it is practically the same truck as Silverado, which is offered in Mexico. Moreover, both Silverado and Cheyenne are available in this market.

Work trucks and other lower trims use Silverado name, while the other one is reserved for hi-level trims. Speaking of the trim levels, there are four of them in the offer – RST, Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country.

Compared to Mexican Silverado, it also features a couple of distinctive visual details. Of course, most of them are at the front, where you can notice more chrome details, fancier lights, and double horizontal bar design. Other than that, things are pretty much the same.

Chevrolet Cheyenne Mexico

In terms of the powertrain, this model comes with V8 engines in the offer only.

Base Silverado models feature a smaller 5.3-liter unit, which is good for 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Hi-end trims are equipped with a more powerful 6.2-liter V8, which is good for about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Still, some reports are also suggesting a new turbo-four in the offer. Of course, we are talking about the recently introduced 2.7-liter engine, which is good for about 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.

According to some reports, there is a chance to see this nameplate in the U.S. market as well. A couple of reliable sources told us that Chevy is seriously considering this move in the near future. If this happens, lower trims would keep the Silverado name, while the Cheyenne would be reserved for top models.

Keep in mind that this is just a rumor, so take it with a big reserve.

You can have Cheyenne Super 10 pickup

Once again, Pensylvania truck retailer will offer this interesting version for all those who feel nostalgic about the truck that debuted in 1971. Of course, there are numerous styling details inspired by the vintage truck, but what this retailer actually does is that it takes the LT models and offers an optional upgrade with the Big 10 package.

Therefore, you can’t count on a too long list of standard equipment, but the details are numerous. Besides unique color finish, some of the things you’ll definitely notice are features like 18-inch rally wheels, a 3.5-inch lift, chrome mirrors, unique door handles etc. This version is available in both Double Cab and Crew Cab layouts.

Cheyenne Super 10

Other than that, things are pretty typical for the LT trim level. Of course, the price is notably higher and goes in the high 40k range. A great thing is that this unique version will be offered for the next year as well.
