2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT Review, Release date

1

Next year could be a season of comebacks. Chevy Avalanche and El Camino could return. However, these are not the only vehicles General Motors could bring back. We can hear rumors about the 2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT. This would be the luxurious version of the full-size SUV. Based on the same ladder platform, the pickup would be very similar to its sibling.

The Escalade EXT was launched in 2001 as a sport utility truck. It entered the second generation in 2007. However, the economic crisis caused a lot of problems and a drop in sales. It eventually led to the discontinuation in 2013. The same year we saw the last edition of its non-premium twin Chevy Avalanche. So, there is no surprise why we can hear rumors about both these pickups again. Well, the company officials gave hits about a comeback. But, it was in 2015, with no schedule of development. It seems that five years later the 2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT will be here.

But, where would the truck fit? The Escalade EXT will definitely belong to the premium class. All Cadillac vehicles are luxurious. In the past, it was a twin to Chevy Avalanche. This time is closest sibling could be Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The 2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT will make it sportier, aggressive, and packed with a lot of premium features and equipment. SUV’s experience will be of great help here.

2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT Drivetrains

There are two solutions for the 2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT and its engines. First, the SUT could borrow a drivetrain from SUV. It is a 6.2-liter V6 engine. This is the largest unit GM is using. It can develop 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to 4×2 drive, while the 4×4 is optional. Chevy developed a new 10-speed automatic transmission. If the engine is still unknown, this gearbox is certain.

Another possibility for the 2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT is to borrow a smaller unit from the Chevy Silverado 1500. The second best-selling truck is using a 5.3-liter V8 unit that is capable to produce 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Of course, the pickup is also getting power from a 6.2-l mill at the high-end models. A 4.3-liter V6 is unlikely to happen. The luxurious truck will need premium drivetrain.

Diesel

The 2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT could follow the steps of the Chevy Silverado completely. The truck is getting a diesel engine next season. Although these numbers are not official, many leaked sources are claiming the Duramax powertrain is capable to produce 282 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. The Escalade EXT will get the same drivetrain, and it can boost its off-road performance. However, other upgrades are needed if the company wants to close the gap between the luxury and utility. Still, expect unexpected from this kind of engine.

2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT Features, Accessories

Well, the interior is not so hard to predict. Well, we expect the overhaul of the SUV sibling, but the 2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT will get some of the familiar and cool features we can already find there. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be there right from the start. The premium SUT will be full of other aid features, such as parking assist and blind-spot monitor. Heating and ventilating are available for front seats. Navigation and Bose audio system are already offering more than we expect from the base configuration.

Upper trim levels and additional packages will include numerous safety add-ons. There are lane departure warning and side blind zone alert. Moonroof is available in the SUT, as well as other cool features that will improve the overall impression. Top of the class models is coming with theft deterrent package. Also, if you decide to spend extra money, you will get the rear-seat entertainment system with large screens and Blue-Ray player. Special stitches and details are available, while the exterior is getting everything Cadillac has to offer.

Exterior

Again, the 2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT could mix things from its closest stablemates – big SUV and famous Chevy truck. Well, the new design is not so suitable for a premium pickup. The luxurious SUV is definitely getting either 21- or 22-inch wheels. Also, there is a chrome grille.

The highlight might be the MultiPro tailgate. This feature will allow the driver to set it in seven different positions. Besides the standard use as a gate, the MultiPro can be dropped to take an oversized cargo. But, the inner gate will stop these items from sliding out of the bed. You can use it as a step as well. The inner gate can also create more space for approach and access if your items are not too big. This small part can be also used as a stop for cargo with strange shapes. Finally, the tailgate can serve as the working station for a laptop or other plans. The electric outlet can make a MultiPro pretty fun with the latest audio system by Kicker MultiPro.

2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT Release Date

We are still expecting news about the 2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT release date. The company is still silent, and all we know is an announcement from 2015. Whatsoever, with rumors being louder recently about this truck and Chevy Avalanche, we could expect both of them to arrive pretty soon.

We come back to the first paragraph. The year of comebacks is the thing we want to underline. With the premium truck market lacking competition, the GM’s archrival, Ford, could return its premium sporty pickup. It is Lincoln Mark LT. But, this is another blind shot. Currently, we can count on GMC Sierra 1500 Denali to be there. Also, Ford F-150 Limited edition is heavily loaded and its price is pretty hefty. But, Chevy can also make its Silverado a premium model by upgrading it with luxurious equipment. We want a brand that will make no compromises.

The price of the 2020 Cadillac Escalade EXT will be everything but cheap. Its SUV sibling costs $80,000. With a diesel engine and MultiPro tailgate, expect the truck to start at the same region. The Platinum model will go over $100,000.
