The popularity of sport utility trucks was obvious, and Ford discontinued its Lincoln Mark LT, while GM also left out its Chevy Avalanche in the same year. Now, there are rumors about all three vehicles and their comebacks. Objectively, the 2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT is the closest to do it.
The new pickup truck will be based on the Escalade SUV. The luxury pickup is not going to enter production with a large number of copies since the interest is not so high in premium trucks. However, Cadillac is ready to take the challenge. Also, the return of this model warms up rumors about the comeback of Chevy Avalanche.
2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT Specs
Being based on the Escalade SUV, and also part of the GM truck lineup, leave us some options for speculations. What is in common for these vehicles? They are using similar drivetrains. The new 2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT is not going to get power from a new unit. It will be either a 5.3-liter or a 6.2-liter, both V8s.
The first one is capable to produce 380 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. With it, the new truck will be able to tow around 7,000 pounds. It comes in pair with a six-speed automatic transmission. An eight-speed drivetrain is an option, as well as AWD. By default, transmission routes power to two wheels.
Higher-output configuration is a 6.2-liter V8, also used by 2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT siblings – Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500. Well, thanks to its premium equipment, the new EXT will be closer to Denali truck. A 6.2-l unit can produce 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque mated to an 8-speed transmission. However, this is a thirstier version.
2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT Diesel
It is not impossible to see the 2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT in a diesel variant. The new Silverado and Sierra full-size trucks are getting such drivetrain. So, their sibling could get the same unit. But, this is a premium pickup and it doesn’t aim for high towing capacity. Well, outputs and specs of a 3.0-liter Duramax diesel are not available yet. But, the turbo engine is going to be able to pull close to a 6.2-liter unit. The drivetrain produces 450 lb-ft of torque and adds 250 hp.
2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT Features
Well, this is, all the same, we can see on other GM trucks. So, what makes the 2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT so different? A luxury. The premium truck is going to offer stunning features and unique interior and exterior styling. First of all, designers will try to bring back as much as possible details to remind us of the old EXT truck. But, after such a long break, the 2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT will need a modernization. That is exactly what the GM is aiming for. A mix of modern and classic should lure buyers and fans.
We can look at the similar models for further clues. Well, the pickup will bring many things from its base SUV model. The exterior of the 2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT will remind us of that. Front fascia will be very similar, with grille and bumpers being refreshed for EXT model. On the other side, the bed could be carried over from Silverado. Part of Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Silverado, and GMC Sierra Denali will combine for the best output. The 2019 Escalade EXT is not going to be a kind of Frankenstein, but the perfectly crafted truck.
Escala Concept
The new platform presented for Cadillac vehicles is presented in form of a two-door sedan. However, the Escala concept is versatile and capable to build trucks and SUVs. Well, the 2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT will use a body-on-frame platform, so the new architecture is not an option. Escala concept could borrow some details.
2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT Release Date and Price
We are very happy for 2019 Cadillac Escalade EXT having features similar to Sierra Denali. Potential buyers won’t be so thrilled since the price is going to be even higher than on its most expensive sibling. On the other hand, the good thing is the truck is not going to cost more than the SUV. Experts believe the new pickup will start around $65,000 to draw more attention and be more competitive with Ford F-150 Platinum.
