So far, this model has been reserved for the emerging markets of Latin America but this could also change. Some sources speculate about Montana’s arrival to the North American market. The officials are still quiet about this.
The arrival to the U.S. market makes sense, especially if we consider that the segment of compact unibody pickups has just been established. The brand-new Hyundai Santa Cruz and Ford Maverick have just arrived. Therefore, it sounds logical to expect an answer from GM.
2023 Chevrolet Montana Design
The big thing about the third-generation 2023 Chevrolet Montana is a complete change of body style. The previous versions featured a coupe ute layout, while the new model comes in the form of a unibody pickup truck. Of course, it rides on a completely new platform, called the VSS-F, which already underpins models like Chevy TrailBlazers. This is certainly one of the indicators of the model’s possible arrival in the North American market.
When it comes to the exterior design, you can notice a typical pickup layout, with the double cab design and a short bed. Even though the test model still wears camouflage, we can see that the front end shares a lot with the TrailBlazer. We can notice similarly designed headlights and grille, with all the bits that characterize the brand’s latest design language.
Interior
When it comes to interior design, it’s still early to talk about details. Still, we can see that the test mule features a double cab design, with a relatively small cargo bed. Also, we won’t exclude the possibility to see a single-cab version in the future as well.
The dashboard design is still a mystery but we may presume that some areas could look the same or similar to the TrailBlazer. That would mean pretty attractive aesthetics for this segment. Moreover, we also count on a lot of standard equipment, especially in terms of tech goodies. Things like an 8-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay and Android auto will certainly be on the list of standard equipment, while we also count on a long list of driver-assistance and safety features.
2023 Chevrolet Montana Engine
When it comes to the powertrain, the VSS platform clearly indicates that the 2023 Chevrolet Montana will be a front-wheel-drive pickup, though we expect to see an AWD model as well. As far as it goes to the powertrain, we should look at the TrailBlazer’s engine lineup. There, we can find a 1.2-liter turbo inline-three with 137 horsepower, which seems a little bit underpowered for this occasion.
Instead, the North American Montana would rather come with a slightly bigger 1.3-liter unit, which puts out 155 horsepower. This engine would come in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Another drawback of the smaller 1.2-liter unit is that it comes in pair with a CVT.
Of course, there is always a chance to see something more powerful on the offer. Some sources speculate about a 1.5-liter unit, which puts out around 170 horsepower, which would be a perfect measure for a vehicle of this size and type.
2023 Chevrolet Montana Release Date and Price
Although the officials are still quiet about this pickup and its arrival in the North American market, we believe it could arrive already by the end of this year. If it arrives in the U.S. market, we presume that the starting price would go around 20.000 dollars.
