2024 Chevy Avalanche Comeback: More Than Rumor

0

It’s been almost a decade since Avalanche’s discontinuation and we can still find a lot of reports that suggest its comeback. Allegedly, the company is about to bring back this pickup, which was characterized by a more SUVish approach than classic trucks like Silverado. These days, the number of comeback rumors is bigger than ever and many of them suggest that the famous nameplate could be revived already in the next year, as the 2024 Chevy Avalanche.

Although the officials are still quiet, it’s relatively easy to predict the design approach of the new mode. We presume that things would be pretty similar to the previous generations. This means we would see a pickup truck design, which coquettes with the SUV segment. Most of the parts would be shared with Chevy Suburban, both in terms of aesthetics and mechanics, including the engines.

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Chevy Avalanche could arrive already in the second half of the next year.

2024 Chevy Avalanche Design

So, the revived 2024 Chevy Avalanche would probably come with the same design approach as the previous two generations, which were in production between 2001 and 2013. So, the overall design would have a lot in common with Chevy Suburban. The two models would share mechanics pretty much completely, starting from the same T1 platform. Compared to more conventional trucks like Silverado, the Avalanche would be more about ride quality than the utility. Therefore, we wouldn’t be surprised to see an independent rear suspension, which significantly improved the ride quality in the current generation.

In terms of the exterior design, the 2024 Chevy Avalanche would also feature 134 inches in wheelbase and similar overall proportions. The front end would look largely the same, as well as the front part of the vehicle. Of course, the main difference would be in terms of the rear-end design, where we expect to see a small cargo bed instead of the third row and cargo area. Of course, the cargo bed would probably come with Avalanche’s famous cladding.

Interior

The same story is with the interior design. The dashboard should look pretty much the same as in Suburban. We would see the same aesthetics, as well as pretty similar materials. Furthermore, the new pickup should come equipped with all kinds of tech goodies, with an available 12-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment system, and various connectivity features.

When it comes to seating configuration, we count on two spacious rows of seats, which both accommodate adults with ease. As we already mentioned, the main difference compared to Suburban would be in the back of the cabin, which would be replaced with a small cargo bed.

2024 Chevy Avalanche Engines

The 2024 Chevy Avalanche would share the powertrain with the Suburban for sure. Therefore, base versions would probably come with a 5.3-liter V8 engine, which features a max output of 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Of course, the more powerful 6.2-liter V8 should be also offered, with a max output of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Finally, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the new 2024 Chevy Avalanche equipped with a diesel engine. That unit would feature a max output of 277 horsepower. The max torque would go around 460 pound-feet, which is enough twist to move this vehicle with ease. At the same time, fuel economy would be excellent, probably around 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, which is fantastic for a vehicle of this size.

All models would come with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel drive would be standard, while 4WD would be available.
