By The current generation of Ram’s HD lineup has been around for a while and the company already did a few updates. For example, the 2023 model came with a new digital instrument cluster. However, it looks like the next year’s model, the 2024 Ram 3500, could bring a little bit bigger changes. Many already call it a middle-cycle refresh and it looks like we could see some aesthetic updates. Of course, changes in other aspects are possible too, but we don’t expect to see anything radical.
So, this could easily be a typical facelift. The 2024 Ram 3500 would bring an updated styling, with a new look but familiar mechanics. The interior shouldn’t change much, especially after the recent update. Finally, the powertrain lineup should also remain the same, with two well-known units under the hood.
We believe that the 2024 Ram 3500 could arrive sometime in the second half of 2023.
2024 Ram 3500 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Ram 3500 could receive a facelift. At this point, details are still unavailable. We presume that this update would be mostly about aesthetics. Even these changes would probably be pretty simple, with the focus on the front end. We presume that a few modifications could be made in this area of the vehicle. We presume we could see changes on the grille, headlights, bumper and similar things. The rest of the truck will probably remain the same.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect will probably remain untouched, for obvious reasons. Simply, the current model already offers the best chassis and suspension setup in the class. Despite impressive towing and hauling capabilities, this model also offers impressive ride quality. It is by far the smoothest HD pickup on the market, with a pretty high level of comfort.
Interior
Another aspect where this pickup really shines is the interior. It features the nicest cabin in the class, characterized by nice aesthetics and excellent build quality. The materials are super fine, while there is also a proper amount of tech and convenience features. As we already mentioned, the recent update has brought the new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, so the cabin no looks even more upscale.
We expect that the 2024 Ram 3500 will continue in familiar configurations, with three cab styles. Of course, there is a Regular Cab model, with a single row of seats, as well as a crew cab version that accommodates up to five passengers. Finally, Ram offers its well-known Mega Cab, which is even bigger than a typical crew cab and offers impressive 43 inches of legroom in the second row. When it comes to cargo beds, there are two lengths on offer, 6 feet 4 inches and 8 feet.
2024 Ram 3500 Engines
The powertrain lineup is expected to remain the same. So, base models will continue with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 gasoline engine, which features a max output of 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes coupled with an 8-speed automatic and the overall performance is more than satisfying.
If you’re up for something more capable, the 2024 Ram 3500 will be offered in two diesel variants, both powered by the well-known 6.7-liter inline-six turbodiesel from Cummins. The base version puts out around 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque, while the more powerful variant is good for 420 horsepower and 1.075 pound-feet of torque. Both units come coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission from Aisin.
Of course, the diesel engine has better towing potential, as the most capable variants can tow more than 37.000 pounds. On the other hand, the gasoline engine is a better option for hauling, as the max payload goes up to7.680 pounds with this engine.
2024 Ram 3500 Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Ram 3500 will arrive sometime in the second half of the next year. Bigger price changes shouldn’t happen, so base versions should go around 48.000 dollars. Of course, the competition remains the same, in the form of models like the Ford F-350, Chevy Silverado 3500HD and GMC Sierra 3500HD.
