By After the great success of the new Ford Maverick, other manufacturers started work on compact pickups as well. Ram is no exception. A company specializing in pickup trucks is now working on a brand-new model, which is expected to arrive in the next year, as the 2024 Ram 1200. Reportedly, the new model will be offered in various parts of the world, including North America.
The Ram 1200 will be a brand-new model, even though the company already used this moniker in certain parts of the world. The new model will be a unibody pickup, designed to compete with the aforementioned Maverick, as well as the Hyundai Santa Cruz. The test mule has been spotted in Sweden recently, but the company is quite successful in keeping details a secret.

2024 Ram 1200 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the company has been pretty successful in hiding details about the upcoming pickups. Still, some things about the new pickup are pretty clear. First of all, we know for sure that the 2024 Ram 1200 won’t have anything in common with the Ram 1200 that was offered between 2016 and 2019 in certain parts of the world. That model was pretty much a rebadged version of the Mitsubishi Triton, offered in selected markets.
This will be a completely new model, based on the Small Wide 4×4 architecture, which is used for a variety of SUVs in Jeep’s lineup, including the Jeep Compass. So, we are about to see a pickup that rides on a unibody platform, so it’s obvious it will challenge the Maverick. From what we know so far, it will be offered in a Double Cab layout only.
The test mule has been spotted recently but we still can’t say much about the styling. Simply, the test model still wears complete camouflage, so we could only imagine that some aesthetical solutions could be borrowed from the full-size RAM 1500.

Interior
We are still away from the point where interior details are available to the public. At this moment, we can only speculate and presume that the 2024 Ram 1200 interior will be car-like, with attractive aesthetics, a lot of tech features, and nice materials.
As we’ve just mentioned, the double or crew cab will be the only version on offer, so we expect to see nothing less than plenty of passenger space in both rows, with the ability to accommodate adults with ease. A decently-sized cargo area should follow the spacious cabin as well.
2024 Ram 1200 Engines
Since the 2024 Ram 1200 will probably be offered worldwide, we presume that the engine lineup will depend on the market. Therefore, it’s no wonder that some sources already speculate about the 2.2-liter turbodiesel with around 200 horsepower.
Still, we are pretty sure that the North American version will come with something different. One of the possibilities is to see a plug-in hybrid setup, based on a 1.3-liter turbo-four engine, with a combined output of 240 horsepower. On the other hand, base models could come with something more conventional, such as a good-old 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four, which powers the current generation Compass and puts out around 180 horsepower. Finally, range-topping models could come with something like a 2.0-liter turbo-four, with 270 ponies. We presume that all variants would come coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

2024 Ram 1200 Release Date and Price
The 2024 Ram 1200 is still in development and it’s hard to come up with more precise details. Still, most sources suggest that the U.S. launch could happen already in the next year. Details about the price are still unknown, but we presume that the company will tend to come up with a price tag that can compete with the Maverick, which currently starts are around 22.500 dollars.
