By Guess what? The production of Tesla pickup has been delayed once again and from what we can see, no one seems to feel surprised. God knows how many delays have been so far for this highly-anticipated all-electric pickup and the latest one suggests that mass production won’t start before 2024. Still, Musk stated that some smaller-scale production will start this summer so, technically, we could talk about the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck and our expectations about it.
So far, there haven’t been too many updates in terms of the design and base features. So, the plans are the same – to offer three versions of this cool-looking pickup that will be not just fast, but also pretty capable in terms of towing and hauling. Besides that, it will offer a high level of comfort, in its stylish and well-equipped cabin.
2024 Tesla Cybertruck Design
So, we are still expecting to see the promised design, characterized by an ultra-futuristic appearance. The styling is certainly the most prominent part of this truck but Tesla will offer much more than that. There is a pretty refined suspension setup, including a self-leveling suspension, which will provide a good balance between ride quality and capabilities. Also, there is a pretty long 6.5-foot bed, which makes this futuristic pickup look very utilitarian.
The styling is super-futuristic, while dimensions are pretty much on par with conventional full-size SUVs. This one measures nearly 150 inches in wheelbase and it is 231.7 inches long. The truck is 80 inches wide and 75 inches high. The numbers also promise good off-road potential, considering that the adjustable air suspension will allow ground clearance to go up to 16 inches, with approache and departure angles of 35 and 28 degrees, respectively.
Interior
When it comes to interior design, the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck, company will stick to its well-known and well-established philosophy, which is all about minimalistic layout. Therefore, the dashboard seems extremely simple on the renderings and it is dominated by a massive 17-inch infotainment screen that makes physical control completely unnecessary. Another interesting detail is the squared-off steering wheel with some kind of built-in display.
Given the very long wheelbase, as well as that the cabin has been moved forward, it’s pretty much for sure that the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck will be very generous with passenger space. The crew cab layout will be the only one on offer, in a combination with a 6.5-foot cargo bed, which offers 3500 pounds of payload capacity.
2024 Tesla Cybertruck Drivetrain
As you probably already know, the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck will come in three configurations regarding electric motors and power output. Base versions will come with a single electric motor, mounted on the rear axle. Typically for Tesla, there are no numbers regarding output or battery capacity, but on the other hand, the company promises 0-60 acceleration in 6.5 seconds and a max towing capacity of 7.500 pounds. Also, this version will reportedly feature a max range of around 250 miles. The dual-motor version will offer a max range of 350 miles and 0-60 springs in about 4.5 seconds, while the max towing capacity is expected to go around 10.000 pounds.
Finally, there is the flagship tri-motor version, with three electric motors, all-wheel drive, zero to sixty in 2.9 seconds, and a max range of 500 miles. Also, this version should be able to tow up to 14.000 pounds.
2024 Tesla Cybertruck Release Date and Price
The first models should arrive this summer, while mass production is expected the next year. Base models will cost around 40.000 dollars, while all-electric trucks like GMC Hummer, Rivian R1T and Ford F-150 Lightning will be the key competitors.
