2023 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast Review: Features, Specs, Price

With 702 horsepower, the TRX is the most powerful pickup on the market but there is much more to like about this pickup than just crazy acceleration. It is a super-capable off-roader with lots of exclusive features and for the next year, the company decided to introduce another special version, this time called the 2023 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast. Compared to the standard TRX, it brings lots of unique styling details, as well as several exclusive interior features.

Despite the upgrades, the nature of Sandblast isn’t any different compared to the standard TRX. We are still talking about crazy output figures, along with exceptional off-road performance. Moreover, the TRX comes with a full load of features you can’t get from any other Ram pickup.

Due to all these upgrades, the 2023 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast will feature a significantly higher price than the standard TRX.

2023 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast Design

In terms of base design characteristics, the 2023 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast is pretty much the same as any other TRX. There is a familiar styling, with familiar upgrades over standard 1500 models. However, there is also a long list of additional upgrades, which are mostly about new visual details. One of the first things you’ll notice is the new Mojave Sand finish, exclusive to this version. Of course, there are well-known TRX graphics, while the package includes new 18-inch all-black bead-lock capable wheels. On the other end, you can notice a spray-in bed liner and cargo tie-downs, along with the step bed. Finally, there is a new cab-mounted brake light.

All these upgrades make the Sandblast look more unique. However, the mechanical aspect doesn’t bring any changes and things are largely the same as in any other TRX. Therefore, you may count on familiar off-road features, such as a reinforced steel frame and upgraded suspension, which includes Bilstein remote-reservoir dampers, which provide 13 inches of travel. Of course, the new wheels will come with massive all-terrain tires, providing 11.8 inches of ground clearance. Furthermore, you may count on massive 15-inch tires, as well as on locking rear differential, skid plates etc.

Interior

The interior comes with a pretty similar design approach. So, most of the cabin is the same as in the standard TRX, with the same upgrades over standard 1500 trucks. Still, there are a few additional upgrades that help this version stand out. The first thing you’ll notice is the seats, which come with different stitching and the TRX logo in Light Frost color. Furthermore, you can notice a little bit different sterring wheel, which is flat-bottomet and wrapped with a combination of leather and carbon.

Carbon accents can be noticed in other parts of the cabin as well, and they point out the truck’s performance character. There are a few more nice, very interesting touches, such as the tweaked infotainment system that shows the truck in the Mojave Sand color. The head-up display does the same. Finally, there are a few additional standard safety features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and automatic emergency braking.

2023 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast Engine

Although a special version, the 2023 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast doesn’t bring any upgrades under the hood. You may count on the same version of the 6.2-liter Supercharge V8, which puts out around 702 horsepower and pound-feet of torque, which is enough to move this pickup from zero to sixty in 3.7 seconds.

The engine comes coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF, which does a fantastic job. Of course, 4WD is standard, while you may also count various drive modes. When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 10 mpg in the city and 14 mpg on the highway, which is significantly lower compared to the V6-powered Ford F-150 Raptor, which returns 15 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.
