2023 Ram 2500 Redesign, News, Facelift, Allison Transmission, Release Date

0

This pickup is Ram’s door to the world of heavy-duty trucks and if we can trust the latest rumors, it looks like some novelties are about to come for the 2023 Ram 2500. Allegedly, the company prepares an update for the model that has been around since 2019. At this point, the officials are still quiet, so the upcoming paragraphs should be taken with a reserve.

According to rumors, this will be a mid-cycle refresh. We are about to see a typical facelift, which will bring styling changes mostly. However, novelties in other aspects are expected too, even in terms of mechanics. Of course, stories about the new transmission are still there, but not much can be said on this matter since the officials are still speechless.

In any case, we expect to see 2023 Ram 2500 sometime in the second half of 2022 and we have no doubt it will continue to offer impressive characteristics in various aspects, making it one of the most versatile pickups around.

2023 Ram 2500 Design

When it comes to base design characteristics, the 2023 Ram 2500 definitely won’t change. The current generation is still fresh for a significant makeover, so the core of this update should be aesthetical changes. In other words, the mechanical aspect will remain pretty much untouched. This pickup heavily relies on the light-duty 1500 model, but also comes with a big suspension upgrade, which provides better capabilities, without sacrificing comfort and overall driving experience.

Visually, we expect to see a few styling tweaks, particularly at the front. This refers to areas like the grille, headlights, bumper etc. All these parts should utilize a slightly revised design, with a little bit bolder approach than before.

When it comes to the off-road-focused Power Wagon, we expect the same mechanics, with all those off-road upgrades that are standard on this model. On the other hand, we presume Ram will make a few changes regarding aesthetics.

Interior

On the other hand, we don’t believe that bigger changes could happen to the inside. Simply, the current model already features the nicest cabin in the class, characterized by very attractive, SUV-like aesthetics, as well as really nice materials. Even the most basic versions look nice, mostly because of the good build quality. In higher trim levels, a longer list of tech goodies makes the cabin look even more upscale.

The rest of the cabin won’t change either. You may count on familiar cab styles in the offer, including single and two-row variants, as well as a large Mega Cab model. The same thing goes for the bed sizes.

Trim Levels

The trim level organization will also remain the same, though we won’t be surprises if we see each model with a couple of novelties. Still, the essence will remain the same, which means that the base Tradesman model will continue with a pretty basic list of standard equipment, which includes steel wheels, manual accessories, vinyl upholstery. The Big Horn will continue as the next in the line, we a few convenience additions and few more styling details. In Texas, this version comes as the Lone Star.

The Laramie will continue as a perfect mid-level option, while the Longhorn and Limited will once again be the most luxurious variants of this pickup. Finally, there’s the Power Wagon, which comes with all kinds of upgrades, mostly in terms of off-road hardware and aesthetics.

2023 Ram 2500 Engines

Under the hood, the 2023 Ram 2500 will continue with two familiar engine options on the offer. Base models will continue with a 6.4-liter V8 HEMI engine, which puts out around 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes in pair with an excellent 8-speed automatic transmission.

Of course, we also count on a well-known 6.7-liter inline-six turbodiesel from Cummins. This one puts out around 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. Some sources suggest we could also see a version with  1.075 pound-feet of torque included in the offer.

The diesel currently comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission from Aisin and if we can trust the latest reports, there is a big chance that the gearbox will get replaced. Instead, we count on a new unit from the same provider, with more gears and higher refinement. On the other hand, we can also hear rumors that suggest 2023 Ram 2500 could use Allison transmission. The officials are still quiet.

2023 Ram 2500 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Ram 2500 will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022, with a starting price of around 37.000 dollars. Of course, Ford F-250 and Chevy Silverado 2500HD will remain key competitors.
