By Today’s automotive world is all about electrification and doesn’t refer to passenger cars anymore. For a couple of years, we’ve been getting reports about new startup companies that work on all-electric pickups. Soon after, the major carmakers entered the game and this clearly leads us to the Big Three. Ford has already prepared the F-150 Lighting, while the all-electric Chevy Silverado is on the way as well. So, it’s now time for Stellantis to prepare its player for the game, which is expected to come as the 2023 Ram 1500 EV.
At this point, most of the details about the 2023 Ram 1500 EV are still a mystery. From what we can hear, the new model will come in about a year, though we may wait for a little bit longer as well. The most interesting thing about the new model is the numbers, as the company promises pretty impressive autonomy, towing capacity and charging speed. Other than that, things are still pretty much unknown.
2023 Ram 1500 EV Design
At this point, we don’t know much about the 2023 Ram 1500 EV design. Of course, we presume that the company is working on a completely new platform, which will be used for a variety of new all-electric models. The new platform will be able to accommodate a pretty large battery pack, as the company claims that the new pickup will be able to make 500 miles on a single charge. The company also claims that the new model will support all kinds of fast-charging options, which will go up to 150 kWh.
When it comes to the truck’s overall design, we know for sure it will ride on a genuine pickup, body-on-frame platform. Furthermore, we expect that the overall design will be pretty similar to the current model, in terms of dimensions and overall shape.
Interior
Interior design plays a much more important role among pickups these days. In the past, these vehicles were no more than working machines but today, things are much different. New pickups are pretty luxurious, equipped with all kinds of advanced features. So, the 2023 Ram 1500 EV shouldn’t be any different. Even the standard, gasoline-powered Ram 1500 offers impressive interior design, so the all-electric version should be at least as good as that one
On the other hand, it’s still unclear what kinds of cab styles and bed sizes we should expect. While the standard Ram 1500 comes in various configurations, the all-electric model probably won’t come in single-cab layouts, at least not in the initial model years.
2023 Ram 1500 EV Drivetrain
Although the most interesting, this aspect of the pickup truck is still a complete mystery. The only thing we know so far is that the new 2023 Ram 1500 EV will be able to tow more than 10.000 pounds. Still, we presume that this will be reserved for the most capable variants, which will feature multiple electric motors and the highest output. More basic variants will probably come with simpler setups, with fewer electric motors, smaller battery and rear-wheel drive. We expect that more details will come in the following months.
