0

GMC’s half-ton pickup has just received a comprehensive mid-cycle refresh, which has brought changes and improvements in various aspects. The new model looks better and comes with a significantly updated interior, while the overall performance has been improved, especially when it comes to the diesel version, which is now available with the Max Trailering package, which significantly improves towing capacity. Considering all these novelties, we are pretty sure that the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel will continue in the same way, without more important updates.

So, you may count on a pickup that has so many great things to offer. It is a pickup that combines performance and efficiency in such a nice fashion, while the overall refinement is at a pretty decent level too. We like the new interior design, as well as a long list of standard and available tech features.

Considering that there are no significant changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

Design-wise, things will remain pretty much the same as in the 2022 model. Although that was just a mid-cycle refresh, the 2022 model came with a substantial makeover. There is a new styling, with a completely new front end that includes new headlights, a new grille, a bumper and many other parts. Of course, models like AT4 and Denali will also continue with their exclusive details.

Both of these models come with lots of exclusive styling details, while the AT4 also comes with lots of off-road upgrades. Some of the things that come to mind are upgraded suspension with 2-inches higher ground clearance, all-terrain tires, low-range gearing, skid plates, recovery hooks etc. Also, there is a new AT4X trim, with even more upgrades. This version comes with Multimatic spool-valve dampers, electronic locking front and rear differentials, extra underbody protection and black 18-inch wheels with gnarly Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac Mud-Terrain tires.

Interior

The recent update also brought significant interior updates. Of course, the most prominent thing is a massive 13.4-inch infotainment screen, along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which will be standard in all 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel models. Also, there is a completely new dashboard design, which features a more attractive shape, nicer materials and a revised center console, which utilizes a modern gear shifter instead of the outdated steering-column-mounted unit.

Of course, the next year shouldn’t bring more significant changes, and this pickup will continue in familiar cab configurations, with three cab styles and three bed sizes.

Trim Levels

The trim level organization will also remain the same. So, the diesel engine will be available in all but the base model. The offer will start with the SLE model, which already comes with plenty of standard equipment, including the aforementioned digital instrument cluster and the massive infotainment screen. The Elevation trim is next in the line, with several styling upgrades, while the SLT trim brings more tech and convenience features.

As we already mentioned, the AT4 and AT4X models will come with loads of off-road upgrades, while the range-topping Denali will continue as the most luxurious version of the truck, with a long list of features and lots of unique styling details.

2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel Engine

Of course, things under the hood will remain the same. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Diesel will continue with the familiar 3.0-liter Duramax inline-six engine, which gets help from a turbocharger and delivers 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to either rear or all wheels.

After the recent update, this version is now also available with the max trailering package, which brings a couple of chassis upgrades and significantly improves max towing capacity. When properly equipped, this pickup can tow up to 13.200 pounds now.

Besides strong capabilities, this version is also characterized by a pretty impressive fuel economy, which goes around 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
