Second, it will feature a completely different base layout compared to the previous generations. While the previous model used tons of gasoline, the new model will be all-electric. Of course, it will bring the flavor of the original in terms of the styling, but it will actually be a completely new vehicle. The new model will come as the 2023 GMC Hummer EV and from what we know so far, the pickup will come first, while the SUV model will arrive a little bit later.
Thanks to the all-electric nature and pretty advanced design, the new 2023 GMC Hummer EV won’t be a cheap vehicle. However, the reward will come in various forms, starting from a pretty capable drivetrain and a max output of 1.000 horsepower. Furthermore, we expect to see a pretty large battery package installed, which would ensure more than respectable autonomy.
2023 GMC Hummer EV Design
The 2023 GMC Hummer EV pickup will come first and from what we can see, it will follow the design language of previous generations. The styling follows the path and comes with the legendary vertical bars on the grille and a bulky appearance. However, the technology under the skin is completely new.
First of all, this model rides on GM’s all-new platform, designed for all-electric vehicles only. It is called Ultium and from what we know so far, it supports a wide range of battery capacities, from 50 to 200 kWh, reports say. Of course, the chassis and suspension are completely new as well and they should provide a much better driving experience, considering that the previous generations were pretty difficult to drive.
Interior
On the inside, we can see a combination of modern and retro styling elements, which looks really nice in this package. The new 2023 GMC Hummer EV will come in a double cab configuration only, with two generous rows of seats and the ability to accommodate up to 5 adult passengers.
The dashboard is highlighted by a couple of massive screens – one for the infotainment system and the other that acts as an instrument cluster. Also, you may count on tech goodies like Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capability, a Wi-Fi hotspot etc. Also, there is a number of interesting details, such as Sea of Tranquility speakers and moon-foot prints on the dead pedal, which celebrate the company’s involvement in the development of the moon rover for Apollo missions.
2023 GMC Hummer EV Drivetrain
Here is the most interesting aspect of the 2023 GMC Hummer EV. The Edition 1, which is the first version to come, will feature a setup of three electric motors, with a total output of 1.000 horsepower and 1.100 pound-feet of torque. With such power, the new Hummer EV will be able to sprint from zero to sixty in just 3.0 seconds. The max towing capacity should go around 12.000 pounds.
When it comes to the battery package, we still don’t know the exact capacity but the company claims a max range of over 350 miles. The company also claims super-fast charging options, which will allow this pickup to charge enough power for 100 miles in just 10 minutes.
2023 GMC Hummer EV Release Date and Price
The 2023 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 will come first, as we already mentioned, sometime in the next year. The starting price of this version will go around 113.000 dollars. The base variant, which will come later, will cost around $80.000. Key competitors will be models like Rivian R1T, Tesla Cybertruck etc.
