2023 Ford Super Duty Redesign: Changes, Engines, Towing Capacity, Colors, Interior

0

The new, fourteenth generation of the world’s best-selling pickup has just been released. Of course, the half-ton iteration arrived first and we are now waiting for Super Duty models to come. According to the latest reports, these models will come in the next year, as the 2023 Ford Super Duty. We expect a lot of interesting novelties, though we don’t expect to see anything radical. Simply, the evolution will continue.

Just like the new F-150, the 2023 Ford Super Duty will come with evolutionary changes. It will bring further development of the aluminum/HSS chassis, along with updates in other aspects. Of course, the styling will be all-new, as well as the interior design. On the other hand, the engine lineup will probably remain the same, though some units will certainly bring more power and torque. Slight improvements regarding towing and payload capacity are expected as well.

2023 Ford Super Duty Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Ford Super Duty will come next year, completely redesigned. Of course, we expect that it will follow the same path as the new F-150, which means evolutionary changes only. Novelties are expected in various aspects, starting from an updated chassis. The overall approach will remain the same, based on a familiar chassis that combines aluminum and HSS, while the suspension setup will be new and should provide improvements, both in terms of ride quality and capability.

Naturally, the styling will be all-new as well. A lot of inspiration will be taken from the half-ton sibling, though many parts will come upgraded, which would provide a bulkier and more aggressive look.

Interior

This aspect shouldn’t bring surprises. We expect the same or very similar dashboard design as in the new F-150, which has brought notable improvements compared to the previous generation. The materials are nicer, while the build quality is better. Also, the aesthetics are nicer, so we could say that the 2023 Ford Super Duty should be able to match Ram HD models in this aspect. Of course, we also expect to see lots of new tech features, starting from a massive, vertically-oriented touchscreen and a new infotainment system. This one will be optional, while base versions will probably come with an 8-inch unit.

2023 Ford Super Duty Engines

We don’t expect bigger changes in terms of powertrain. The engines will remain the same, though we could see some changes in terms of max power and torque. Currently, the base 6.2-liter V8 engine puts out around 380 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The optional 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 has been released last year, so it probably won’t feature changes in terms of power. It currently puts out around 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque.

Finally, there is the 6.6-liter turbodiesel, with a max output of 475 horsepower and 1.050 pound-feet of torque. We might see a slight increase, especially in terms of max torque. That should also provide slightly higher max towing ratings.

Towing ratings will probably improve slightly with the new generation. The current model can feature up to 24.000 pounds of conventional max towing, and up to a pretty impressive 37.000 pounds with the fifth wheel and gooseneck. The most capable versions can haul up to 7.850 pounds.

2023 Ford Super Duty Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Ford Super Duty will arrive sometime in the second half of 2022. The current version starts at around 37.000 dollars and we don’t expect a significant increase in the future. Of course, key competitors will be HD versions of Chevy Silverado and Ram Pickup.
