By The new generation of Ford’s mid-size pickup is on the way and it will bring so-needed changes and updates, in order to make this pickup competitive again. Versions for abroad markets already debuted, while the U.S. model is about to start production this summer. Of course, the new generation will bring all kinds of novelties but some things will also remain the same – unlike most rivals, the Blue Oval Company will keep the SuperCab version on offer. Moreover, the test model with this body style has been spotted and it shows some pretty interesting novelties.
From what we can see, not only that the 2024 Ford Ranger SuperCab will be offered in familiar variants, it will also come in some new versions, more appealing and more interesting. This even refers to the Tremor Off-Road model, which brings all kinds of off-road features and has been reserved for the SuperCrew model so far.
2024 Ford Ranger SuperCab Design
This redesign is coming at the right time. Not only that the current generation has been around for too long, but there is also a bunch of competitors that have been refreshed recently. So, Ford prepared a new design, more attractive and more appealing. Of course, there is the new styling, which feels more modern and more aggressive. The biggest changes are at the front, where you can see new headlights, a new grille, a bumper and much more, all designed in a much more attractive manner than before.
In terms of mechanics, the new generation rides on a familiar but updated T6 platform, with a new suspension setup and chassis reinforcements. We hope this will translate to a much better ride, considering that the current model is really disappointing in this aspect.
Also, we mentioned that the 2024 Ford Ranger SuperCab is expected to come in a new, Tremor version. So far, this model has been reserved for the SuperCrew model but the last time we saw a test mule of the SuperCab, we saw it with several Tremor features, which is a pretty clear indicator of this change. This version is characterized by a number of exclusive off-road features, such as off-road-tuned shocks, a locking rear differential, all-terrain tires, front tow hooks, a steel bash plate, multiple off-road drive modes, three skid plates, a suspension lift, Fox shock absorbers and running boards.
Interior
The cabin quality is certainly one of the biggest issues of the outgoing generation. Simply, the materials and overall build quality are subpar, even for a pickup truck. However, things will change with the new model. From what we can see in the Australian model, there is a new dashboard design, highlighted by a massive, vertically oriented touchscreen, digital instrument cluster and other tech goodies. Of course, these advanced features will be reserved for higher trim levels, while more basic versions will probably feature a partially digital cluster, smaller screen etc.
We presume that the trim level organization will remain the same, so there should be more basic models like XL and XLT, while the Lariat will come loaded with all kinds of tech and convenience features.
When it comes to interior space, we don’t expect to see drastic changes. The 2024 Ford Ranger SuperCab will combine comfort and utility, offering a relatively tight second row but a pretty generous 6-foot cargo bed. Once again, we will see a rear-hinged rear doors design, which will provide much easier access to the second row of seats.
2024 Ford Ranger SuperCab Engines
When it comes to powertrain, base models will continue in the same way, with a familiar 2.3-liter turbo-four. Of course, a slight power increase is possible but we don’t expect to see anything significant. The current model puts out around 270 horsepower and comes coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which also does a pretty decent job. The max towing capacity goes up to 7.500 pounds, while the average fuel economy goes around 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is pretty good for a mid-size pickup.
The new generation will also be offered with a twin-turbo V6 engine, but that unit will be reserved for the new Ranger Raptor, which won’t be offered in the SuperCab style, but only with a more spacious SuperCrew model.
2024 Ford Ranger SuperCab Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Ford Ranger SuperCab will arrive this summer, with a starting price of around 30.000 dollars. Models like Jeep Gladiator and Chevy Colorado will remain some of the key competitors.
