By Jeep’s pickup has been around for a while and it quickly established a pretty good position on the market. It has so many things to offer but the company wants to make it even more popular. Therefore, they are coming up with big novelties in the next year. From what we know so far, the capable pickup is about to get a hybrid version. Of course, we are talking about the same setup as in Wrangler, so it’s easy to presume that the new model will carry the same badge and come as the 2024 Jeep Gladiator 4xe.
Therefore, we count on the same setup, based on a turbo-four engine, which feels very capable. Other than the powertrain, this pickup shouldn’t be much different from the standard version. Of course, there’s always a chance for minor updates regarding the standard and available equipment, while we presume that, just like in the case of Jeep Wrangler, the new powertrain will be offered in higher-end trim levels only.
2024 Jeep Gladiator 4xe Powertrain
The most important feature of the 2024 Jeep Gladiator 4xe will be its new powertrain. From what we know so far, it won’t be any different than the system that powers the Wrangler 4xe. Therefore, you may count on a setup that’s based on a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, which comes coupled with two electric motors. The whole system puts out 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, which is plenty enough to ensure strong performances. Just like standard models, this one will also use an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The system comes paired with a 17-kWh battery pack, which ensures around 21 miles of the all-electric range, so we may expect something similar from the pickup iteration. When it comes to fuel economy, the SUV returns around 49 MPGe.
2024 Jeep Gladiator 4xe Design
Design-wise, the 2024 Jeep Gladiator 4xe won’t be any different than the rest of the lineup. Even though the current model has been around since 2019, the company won’t bother with bigger aesthetical changes, which makes perfect sense, considering the model’s classic look.
The same thing goes for mechanics. This model will feature the same chassis and suspension setup, which includes solid axles on both ends of the vehicle. As a result, the ride isn’t particularly great on the road. On the other hand, the Gladiator shines off the road. This particularly refers to the Rubicon trim, which comes with all kinds of upgrades low-range gearing, locking differentials, disconnecting sway bar and many more.
Interior
The same thing is with interior design. This pickup comes in a crew cab layout only and it features one of the biggest cabins in the segment. Both rows are very generous with space and accommodate adults with ease. Behind the seats, you will find a decently sized 5-foot cargo bed.
Besides plenty of space, this cabin also features pretty decent quality. The dashboard looks attractive, while the quality of materials is at a pretty high level as well. Furthermore, the large 8.4-inch touchscreen makes the dash look even nicer, while its ease of use is another great thing we like very much.
Trim Levels
We expect that this powertrain will be reserved for higher trim levels only. We presume that the most affordable Gladiator 4xe will be the Sahara trim, which comes with features like 18-inch wheels, full-time 4WD, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, remote keyless entry etc.
The hybrid powertrain should also be offered in the off-road-oriented Rubicon trim. This version would bring all kinds of upgrades. Some of the things that come to mind are all-terrain tires, low-range gearing, locking front and rear differentials, disconnecting stabilizer bar, rock rails, additional drive modes etc.
Also, count on a lot of standalone options, such as three-piece hardtop, leather upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, premium audio system, towing package etc. Finally, count on optional safety features like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation etc.
2024 Jeep Gladiator 4xe Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Jeep Gladiator 4xe will arrive sometime in 2023. When it comes to the price, we believe it could start at around 50.000 dollars. We presume that the key competitor will be the next-generation Toyota Tacoma, which is also about to get a hybrid version.
