While Toyota’s pickup hasn’t significantly changed since 2015, most competitors have been redesigned in the last few years. Therefore, it’s no wonder that the Japanese manufacturer has the same plan. According to the latest reports, the new generation is coming in the next year, as the 2024 Toyota Tacoma.
At this point, the company still keeps most details a secret but some aspects of the new generation is pretty easy to predict. That particularly refers to the new platform, as well as to the new powertrain options. It looks like the new Tacoma will also be available as a hybrid. Naturally, we count on a modern design approach and features in many other aspects as well, whether it’s about exterior styling, interior design and features etc.
We believe that the 2024 Toyota Tacoma will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2023.

2024 Toyota Tacoma Redesign
The new generation will come after eight years of production, so it’s pretty obvious that the number of novelties will be pretty big. The all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma will come completely redesigned and the first thing that comes to mind is the platform. Of course, it will switch to the TNGA-F architecture, just like the new Tundra did. Naturally, the Tacoma will be notably smaller and we believe that the overall dimensions won’t be significantly different compared to the outgoing model.
Of course, the new platform will bring many benefits. One of the things we expect to see is a significant weight reduction. Furthermore, the new generation will also bring a completely new suspension setup. In this aspect, the most important change will be on the rear end. There, the good-old leaf springs will be replaced with something more sophisticated, probably coil springs. That should improve the ride quality a lot, but don’t expect off-road capabilities to be sacrificed too much.
Exterior
When it comes to exterior design, the first thing that comes to mind is styling. We are about to see a completely new look and, without any doubt, a lot of inspiration will be taken from the new Tundra. The front end should utilize a similar grille and headlights design, while the rest of the vehicle should look similar as well, just in a smaller package. Just like the current generation, the new model should also come in two familiar cab layouts, either as an extended or crew cab pickup.
Of course, we expect to see the capable TRD Pro model once again. This trim will come with all kinds of upgrades and it will be the most capable off-roader in the lineup. Count on all kinds of off-road features, such as locking differentials, two-speed transfer case, skid plates, hill descent control and many more.
Interior
Naturally, we also expect to see a completely new interior. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the new dashboard design, which should utilize a more attractive shape, nicer materials and more tech features. Still, these aren’t the only improvements we expect to see from the new model.
Namely, the current generation has often been criticized for the lack of passenger space. Many complain about the lack of headroom, while the second-row passenger room isn’t particularly impressive either. So, we presume that Toyota engineers will try to fix these imperfections.
2024 Toyota Tacoma Engines
Big changes are coming under the hood as well. The current 3.5-liter V6 will be replaced with a turbo-four. That should be the company’s new 2.4-liter engine, with a max output of 275 horsepower. Although it features similar power to the V6, it will provide notably better driving dynamics, thanks to the higher max torque, which will go up to 309 pound-feet.
Besides the new turbo-four, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma is also expected to come in a hybrid version. Details are still unavailable but some sources speculate about a system that’s based on a turbo-four engine. That could easily be the same setup that is about to debut in the new RX. The new RX 500h features a max output of 367 horsepower.

We expect that the 2024 Toyota Tacoma will hit the market in the second half of 2023. When it comes to the price, we expect that the base models will go around 28.000 dollars. Of course, the competition will remain the same and include models like Chevy Colorado, Ford Ranger, Jeep Gladiator etc.
