2023 Chevrolet Silverado SS: Rumors and Expectations

0

For the Big Three, the pickup segment has become a matter of prestige a long time ago. That’s why it’s no wonder that virtually every truck enthusiast is waiting to see Chevy’s response to those crazy things that are happening in the rival companies. Namely, the Ram TRX has been around for a couple of years, while the new Raptor R is on the way and it will also feature more than 700 horsepower. Allegedly, GM’s response will come in the form of a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado SS. At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation.

Compared to the rivals, which are primarily high-performance desert runners, the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado SS will feature a different design approach. Instead of insisting on off-road performances, the SS will rather be a street racer. We are about to see a pickup that features not just a capable engine, but also comes with chassis and suspension upgrades that will make this truck much better in corners.

2023 Chevrolet Silverado SS Design

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado SS will be the new range-topping model in Silverado’s lineup but it won’t be an off-roader like sources were suggesting. Instead, this will be a street racer and therefore, we are about to see different kinds of performance modifications. This particularly refers to the suspension setup, which will be stiffer compared to the standard model. Furthermore, we also expect to see lower ground clearance, along with some chassis reinforcement. Naturally, bigger brakes are expected as well.

Besides mechanical upgrades, we also count on a lot of exclusive styling details, which will emphasize the model’s high-performance character. This may refer to things like unique wheels, exclusive color options, more aggressive bumpers, side skirts and many other parts typical for performance cars. We expect that the 2023 Silverado SS will come exclusively in a crew cab layout.

Interior upgrades are expected as well, though we can’t go too much into details at the moment. Still, we may presume that the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado SS will come with lots of exclusive details regarding unique upholstery and color schemes, exclusive stitching, materials etc. As we are talking about the new range-topping model, it’s quite obvious that this version will also come with a long list of standard equipment, including the latest tech features.

As we’ve just mentioned, this model will probably come only in a crew cab layout, so you may expect that the Silverado SS will be able to accommodate adult passengers in both rows of seats, with the capacity of five.

2023 Chevrolet Silverado SS Engine

This is where we expect to see some big things. Considering what the competition has to offer, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado SS would come with eight cylinders. Of course, we are talking about the legendary LT4 engine, which is a supercharged version of the standard 6.2-liter V8, which already powers the Silverado. While the naturally-aspirated version of the engine puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, we believe that the supercharged variant, which will find its place under the Silverado SS, will come with a max output of 650 horsepower.

Of course, the engine would come coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and we expect to see paddle shifters as well. At this point, it is still unknown whether the new version will come with 4WD as standard or as an upgrade. In any case, we expect to see various performance features, including a limited-slip rear differential.
