2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss: Release Date, Price, Specs and Features

0

It’s no secret that Chevy is working on the new generation of its mid-size pickup. The new Colorado has been in testing for a while, while the test mule has been spotted a few times as well. While we already know about some of the design characteristics, experts are also speculating about new versions of the truck. One of them should be the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss, which is a kind of off-road upgrade package.

This particular version would offer a couple of off-road upgrades to the table. On the other hand, things like styling and interior design would remain the same as in base models, which means that buyers would have an opportunity to get a capable off-roader without paying extra for fancy features that can be found in models like Z71 and ZR2. Toyota offers something similar in the form of TRD Off-Road trim.

We presume that the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss could arrive already in the second half of the year.

2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss Design

As we already mentioned, the main thing about the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss will be its off-road upgrade. Compared to standard models, we would see all kinds of upgrades, pretty much the same ones that characterized the Z71 model. That would be things like 4WD, upgraded suspension with lift kits, tow hooks, an automatic locking rear differential, recovery hooks, hill descent control etc.

Other than that, things would be the same as in base models, as this would probably be an optional package for WT and LT trim levels. Count on the same overall design, which will be new for the next year. At this point, we know for sure that next-generation Colorado will ride on an updated version of the current GMT 31XX platform, with improvements regarding ride quality, capabilities etc. Of course, the styling will be all new as well.

Interior

As we’ve just mentioned, the Trail Boss will be all about off-road upgrades, while the rest of the vehicle will be the same as in standard models. This refers to the interior design as well, but keep in mind that the upcoming redesign is about to bring a lot of improvements regarding cabin design, build quality and materials. We expect that the base WT model will come with a bigger touchscreen and updated infotainment system, as well as with a long list of other tech features, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, satellite radio, Bluetooth, USB ports and other connectivity features.

The LT, on the other side, would offer a couple of notable upgrades, such as a bigger touchscreen, more driver-assistance features, upgraded upholstery etc. Finally, it could be available in the Z71, just like in the current generation. In that case, we would see only a few upgrades, as this trim level already features most of the Trail Boss’ features as a part of standard equipment.

Big changes are coming under the hood as well. The next-generation Colorado won’t be available with any of the current powertrain options, such as a 2.5-liter inline-four, 3.6-liter V6 and a 2.8-liter turbodiesel. All these units will be replaced with a 2.7-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 310 horsepower, as well as a massive 350 pound-feet of torque. The engine would come in pair with a new 10-speed automatic transmission.
