By The new generation of Chevy’s mid-size pickup is on the way and while there are many novelties to come, some things will remain the same. This particularly refers to the trim level organization, which probably won’t change. Therefore, we are eagerly waiting for the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado LT, which should remain one of the most popular versions of the pickup.
The reason why this particular trim is so popular is a great balance between price and features. This is a mid-level version, which stands above the base WT model but below off-road-oriented versions like Z71 and ZR2. It offers the simplicity of the base Colorado, but also comes with lots of convenience features, which make it quite versatile.
Of course, the new generation will bring a lot of new things, starting from the updated platform, new styling, new interior design, new engine and many more. We expect to see it later this year.
2023 Chevrolet Colorado LT Design
The Colorado is about to receive a complete overhaul after a decade and that’s why we have pretty big expectations from it. The new design will bring a lot of changes and one of the things that come to mind is the platform. The current model rides on the GMT 31XX architecture, while the new model won’t get a completely new one, but rather an updated version of this platform, which is codenamed GMT31XX-2. Of course, improvements will come in many aspects but we presume that the GM engineers will focus on improving comfort and overall ride quality, which is probably the weakest point of the current generation.
Naturally, the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado LT will come with the completely new styling. At this point, the test mule still wears camouflage, so we can’t see details. However, we can see a pretty familiar shape and rather similar dimensions. Just like the current generation, the new model should also be offered in three variants, either with an Extended Cab with a long bed, Crew Cab with short bed, or Crew Cab with long bed. Naturally, we will see a completely new styling, where the new front end should have some things in common with the current-generation Silverado.
Interior
If the current model doesn’t impress with its interior design at all. It features mostly cheap, hard-touch materials in combination with outdated aesthetics. We expect this to change, to see the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado LT with a much nicer interior. Besides improvements in quality, we also count on lots of new tech features, including a new infotainment screen and new connectivity features
As we already mentioned, the new model should be offered in two familiar cab styles, either with Extended or Crew cab. In both cases, the seating capacity will go up to five passengers, though the crew cab model should be way more spacious in the second row.
Features
The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado LT will continue as a mid-level option in Colorado’s range. It will sit above the WT model, so you may expect more than just essential features. For reference, the current generation brings a lot of interesting upgrades with the LT model, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, power-adjustable driver’s seat, bigger infotainment screen, additional USB ports etc.
Interestingly, the current LT also comes with many available features, such as heated seats, automatic climate control, navigation, Bose audio system, automatic emergency braking etc. So, we presume that the new generation won’t feature a significantly different approach to this aspect of the pickup.
2023 Chevrolet Colorado LT Engine
Big changes are coming under the hood as well. Unlike the current generation, which was offered with three engine options, the new model will come with just one on offer. That one will be a turbo-four and it will replace four- and six-cylinder gasoline units, as well as a turbodiesel.
The Colorado LT will feature a 2.7-liter turbo-four. This engine received an update recently in the Silverado and now features impressive max torque of 430 pound-feet, while the max output goes around 310 horsepower. We still don’t know the numbers for the mid-size pickup, but we believe they won’t be significantly different. Also, we expect to see the new 2023 Chevrolet Colorado LT coupled with a new 10-speed automatic transmission.
2023 Chevrolet Colorado LT Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado LT will hit the market by the end of this year. The current model starts at around 29.000 dollars and we expect that the new one will feature a slightly higher starting price.
