2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid: Review, MPG, Release Date, Towing Capacity

0

The current generation of the world’s best-selling pickup truck has been around since 2020 and the Blue Oval company is already working on a mid-cycle update. The changes will come with the 2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid as well, which will also benefit from the mid-cycle refresh. At this point, the exact details are still unavailable but the test mule wears a lot of camouflage, which indicates a lot of styling changes.

Naturally, interior updates are also possible, especially in terms of new tech features, including the massive touchscreen. Under the skin, we don’t believe that this version could bring bigger changes, so you may count on the same level of performance. Of course, new standard and available features are possible as well, while we are pretty sure that the company will continue to offer electrified powertrain across the whole range. The updated F-150 Hybrid should arrive sometime in the second half of the year.

2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid is about to get a mid-cycle refresh. The test mule has been spotted on the road a few times and it still wears heavy camouflage. This clearly indicates a lot of changes, as the complete front end is covered –  not just headlights, grille and bumper, but also the hood, fenders etc. This means that we should see a comprehensive update, though the actual styling changes should be rather subtle.

The rear end also wears camouflage and, in this area, we don’t expect just revisions on taillights and similar areas. We also expect to see a new, multifunctional tailgate, which would be able to compete with Silverado 1500’s Multi-Flex tailgate and the Ram 1500’s multi-function tailgate. On the other hand, we don’t expect to see bigger changes regarding the chassis and suspension setup.

Interior

It’s been a long time since pickup trucks stopped being just working machines. Contemporary models also offer a high level of convenience, with quality interiors. That’s why we expect further improvements in this aspect, especially after the recent redesign of Silverado’s interior. This means we could see some revisions to the dashboard, as well as new materials, new color schemes etc. Of course, we also expect to see novelties regarding tech features and most sources speculate about the new 15.5-inch infotainment screen, which already debuted in the refreshed Expedition.

Trim Levels

Of course, each trim level would come with some novelties regarding the standard and available equipment but the overall organization of equipment groups will remain the same. The great thing about the F-150 Hybrid is that this powertrain is offered across the whole range, which means even the basic XL can be configured with an electrified powertrain. In most trim levels, this setup is optional, except for the Limited trim.

So, the offer will once again start from the XL trim which, although the base one, still comes standard with things like cloth upholstery, an 8-inch touch screen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, multiple USB ports, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, a rearview camera, pedestrian detection.

The XLT trim adds goodies like alloy wheels, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist, while the Lariat adds a bigger touchscreen, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start and many more.

King Ranch, Platinum and Limited are trim levels where luxury begins and they gradually add more and more exclusive features. Finally, the hybrid powertrain is even available in the Tremor versions, which adds a couple of off-road enhancements, such as upgraded suspension, multiple skid plates, hill descent control, a locking differential and 33-inch all-terrain tires.

2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid Powertrain

Unlike other aspects of the truck, this one will remain unchanged. Therefore, you may count on a setup that combines a 3.5-liter turbo-four with a single electric motor, for a total output of 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque, which is plenty enough for strong driving dynamics and a convenient ride. Furthermore, this setup doesn’t just offer good performance, but a very good fuel economy as well. It is by far the most fuel-efficient powertrain in the F-150 lineup, with an average fuel economy of 25 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

Besides good driving dynamics and very good fuel economy, this setup also provides pretty respectable towing capacity. A properly equipped F-150 Hybrid can tow up to 12.700 pounds and we don’t expect to see bigger changes after the refresh.

2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid Release Date and Price

We expect that the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 47.000 dollars.
