2024 Nissan Frontier Hybrid: Rumors and Expectations

0

Nissan’s mid-size pickup was redesigned last year and if we can judge by sales numbers, it looks like the Japanese manufacturer has done a pretty good job with the new generation, which came after more than 15 years of waiting. The new model is strong in many fields, offering a good portion of performance and capability at a reasonable price. Despite it’s been competing quite successfully with models like Ford Ranger and Chevy Colorado, the company wants more and, therefore, it works so the new powertrain options, rumors suggest. Allegedly, the next year is about to bring the 2024 Nissan Frontier Hybrid, the first-ever Nissan pickup with an electrified powertrain.

At this point, the officials are still quiet on this matter, so it’s hard to talk about the actual odds for such a version. On the other hand, we are pretty sure that, if the new model is about to arrive, that most of the features will remain the same as in the standard gasoline versions.

The 2024 Nissan Frontier Hybrid could arrive already in the second half of 2023.

2024 Nissan Frontier Hybrid Powertrain

Of course, the most interesting aspect of the 2024 Nissan Frontier Hybrid would be its powertrain. At this point, it’s hard to say more details about this thing but we see two directions in which this pickup could go. The first one is a plug-in hybrid setup, based on a four-cylinder engine, with one or more electric motors. We presume that the combined output would be on par with the standard V6 engine. Also, that version would come with a decent battery pack, which would provide some EV autonomy as well.

On the other hand, some sources suggest that the Japanese manufacturer could implement its new ePower technology and offer one rather unique powertrain setup for this class. In this case, the new Frontier Hybrid would act rather like an electric vehicle, as the gasoline engine would serve only as a generator.

Standard models are expected to continue in the same way, with a 3.6-liter V6 that puts out 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque, in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

2024 Nissan Frontier Hybrid Design

Other than the powertrain, we don’t believe that the 2024 Nissan Frontier Hybrid would feature bigger changes. It would come with the same overall design, based on the updated F-Alpha platform, with a good combination of comfort and capability.

Still, one of the things that come to mind is the body style. Some sources suggest that the electrified Frontier would come only in a Crew Cab layout, while the smaller King Cab would remain reserved only for the gasoline version. The styling would also remain the same, though there is always a chance to see some minor modifications and exclusive styling details that accentuate the truck’s electrified nature.

Interior

The same thing goes for interior design. Of course, the instrument cluster would be adapted to the hybrid powertrain but the overall dashboard design would remain the same. That’s definitely not a bad thing, considering that the current model already looks very nice, with fine aesthetics and quality materials, while the amount of tech features is pretty decent as well.

2024 Nissan Frontier Hybrid Interior

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Nissan Frontier Hybrid would probably come only in a Crew Cab layout, with two spacious rows of seats that accommodate five adults pretty easily. The cab would come in a combination with a 5-foor bed, most likely.

Features

Once again, we expect a lot of similarities with the gasoline version, though some exclusive features are always possible. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a push-button start, 7-inch digital instrument gauge, 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, Bluetooth and a four-speaker stereo. Among upgrades, you can find a 9-inch touch screen, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker stereo, a 10-speaker Fender premium stereo, wireless device charging, remote start, a digital key, proximity keyless entry, a household-style power outlet, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener and a moonroof.

When it comes to safety features, base models should come with things like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, driver-attention monitoring, rearview camera, rear-seat alert etc. Among upgrades, you can find a lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, reverse automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, and surround-view camera.

2024 Nissan Frontier Hybrid Release Date and Price

According to rumors, the 2024 Nissan Frontier Hybrid could arrive already in the second half of 2023. We estimate that the starting price would go somewhere between 35.000 and 40.000 dollars.
