By Nissan’s mid-size pickup has been on the market for a pretty long time. The current generation was introduced in 2015 and, therefore, it’s no wonder we are expecting a full redesign for the next year. From what we know so far, the next generation will bring a lot of evolutionary changes but, on the other hand, some radical things could happen as well. One of them is electrification, which may be applied for the first time in Nissan’s pickup lineup. The 2024 Nissan Navara Electric would come with some sort of electrification, even though the officials stated earlier that the company doesn’t plan to electrify its pickup lineup.
Other than the powertrain, the electric Navara shouldn’t feature significant differences compared to the standard models that are powered by internal-combustion engines. Of course, we could see a couple of exclusive styling details that accentuate the model’s all-electric character, but the overall layout should remain the same.

2024 Nissan Navara Electric Powertrain
As you may presume, the main thing about this iteration of Navara will be the powertrain setup. The 2024 Nissan Navara Electric will get some sort of electrification and we see two possible scenarios at this point. One of them is to see a classic battery-electric setup, which would include a common setup of batteries and electric motors.
However, we think that there’s a much bigger chance to see the company’s new e-Power system, which is actually a hybrid system, even though it offers a driving experience that’s the same as in an electric vehicle. Namely, this system includes a gasoline engine, but that engine doesn’t power the wheels but rather feeds a small battery that powers electric motors that run the wheels. As a result, the driving experience is the same as in electric cars, even though there is no large battery pack. So far, Nissan implemented this technology in a couple of models, predominately in crossovers like Qashqai and X-Trail.

2024 Nissan Navara Electric Design
Other than the electrified powertrain, we don’t believe that the 2024 Nissan Navara Electric could be much different than the standard, ICE Navara. This means the same overall design, even though we could see a couple of exclusive styling details that emphasize the model’s all-electric nature. This primarily refers to the front end, which would come with a closed grille and a few more details that would make this truck look more futuristic than the “regular” model.
In terms of the chassis and suspension setup, we don’t expect surprises. The new generation will ride on an updated F-Alpha platform and the overall dimensions shouldn’t change either. Also, the company should continue polishing its well-known, pretty refined suspension setup that ensures a surprisingly smooth ride for a pickup, which has always been one of Navara’s biggest selling points.
Interior
Just like the exterior, the inside of the 2024 Nissan Navara Electric shouldn’t be significantly different compared to the standard ICE model. We expect to see a completely new layout, with a more modern look, further improvements in terms of materials and overall build quality. Of course, we count on all kinds of new tech features, including the new infotainment system, more intuitive and easier to use, with crisper graphics and bigger screens. New connectivity features are always expected, while the instrument cluster should be completely digital and adapted to the model’s electric nature.
As for the cab style and seating configuration, we are pretty sure that the electric version would come in a more comfort-oriented, crew cab version only. In the case of the implementation of e-Power hybrid technology, there is no need for a large battery, so the passenger and cargo space wouldn’t be compromised in any way.
What About the Rest of the Powertrain Lineup?
Besides the 2024 Nissan Navara Electric, we also expect the new generation to be offered with a couple of internal-combustion engines. It is pretty much for sure that the new model will retain the tried-and-true 2.3-liter turbodiesel engine that has proven to be reliable and efficient. This engine is currently available in two variants, with the base single-turbo version delivering 160 horsepower, and the more powerful twin-turbo variant offering around 190 horsepower.
On the other hand, the big change would come in the form of the new 9-speed automatic transmission.

2024 Nissan Navara Electric Release Date
We believe that the 2024 Nissan Navara Electric could arrive sometime in the next year. When it comes to competition, there are currently no electrified models in the segment, but we are getting a lot of reports about Toyota releasing a hybrid version of the new Hilux. Ford Ranger could also come with some sort of electrification, rumors suggest.
