2023 GMC Canyon Denali Redesign: What We Know So Far

0

The new generation of GMC’s mid-size pickup truck has been confirmed for the next year. We count on a lot of novelties and we have no doubt that the Denali version will be offered as well, as the range-topping version of the vehicle. This trim has always been reserved for GMC’s most exclusive models, whether it’s about SUVs or trucks and that won’t change in the future. That’s why we count on a lot of exclusive features from the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali.

A test mule of what’s believed to be the new Canyon Denali has been spotted on the road. At this point, it still wears a complete camouflage, so we don’t know the details. On the other hand, we may presume it will adopt all the novelties that are about to come with standard models, starting from an updated platform, new powertrain and more. Of course, a full load of exclusive features is a certain thing.

We expect that the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali will arrive sometime in the second half of the year.

2023 GMC Canyon Denali Redesign

This redesign is about to bring a full load of novelties. Just like the base model, the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali will also come with a completely new design, based on the updated version of the GMT-31XX platform, which means it will remain a genuine body-on-frame pickup. Of course, the new model will bring a completely new styling and even though the test mule still wears a complete camouflage, we may presume it will take a lot of inspiration from the full-size Sierra, which received a full redesign a year ago.

This means the new model will look boxier and more rugged than before. Of course, the “Denali” badge means we are about to see a lot of exclusive styling solutions as well. Naturally, the first thing that comes is a chrome grille, which has always been a trademark of all Denali models in GMC’s lineup. The rest of the vehicle should also come with lots of chrome details, while we can also see the test mule riding on a new set of wheels.

Interior

The spy photos even show bits of the new interior. However, it’s hard to tell anything more precise, considering that the whole dashboard is covered with camouflage. Still, we may presume that the new cabin will look more upscale than before, whether it’s about style or materials. Naturally, we count on exclusive Denali features as well, such as the “Denali” badge on the steering wheel and high-end materials. Naturally, a full load of tech features is another thing that comes to mind.

2023 GMC Canyon Denali

We presume that the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali will, just like the current model, come exclusively in a crew cab layout.

2023 GMC Canyon Denali Engine

The current Denali is available with two engines, either a 3.6-liter V6 or a 2.8-liter turbodiesel. However, the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali will come with something completely different. It’s no secret that the complete engine lineup that powers the current generation will be dropped from the offer. The replacement will come in the form of the GM’s relatively fresh 2.7-liter turbo-four. This engine features a max output of 310 horsepower and also offers a pretty impressive 348 pound-feet of torque.

The engine will come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which will send power to either rear or all four wheels. Some sources also speculate about the electrification, so we would be surprised to see a Canyon Denali with such a setup one day as well. However, this is still just a rumor, so make sure to take this with a big reserve.

2023 GMC Canyon Denali Release Date and Price

We believe that the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year. When it comes to the price, the current model goes around 43.000 dollars and we don’t believe that the new model could be significantly more expensive. Key competitors should be models like Toyota Tacoma Limited, Honda Ridgeline Black Edition etc.
