The F-150’s lineup has always been extremely wide but the Blue Oval company management figured out that there is still a place for a new version. In this case, the decision was made to make a pickup that would offer strong off-road performance, but which would remain affordable. Simply, many drivers don’t have the money, or simply don’t want to pay extra for all those convenience features that come with the Raptor, for example. For many off-road enthusiasts, these things are completely unnecessary. For them, the new 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler seems like an excellent choice,
The Rattler comes heavily based on the cheapest trim level called the XL. It lacks convenience features but comes with significant upgrades regarding off-road performance. Furthermore, it comes with a couple of exclusive styling details, so it looks pretty exclusive as well. The best thing about this pickup is its price, which is quite affordable, considering all the hardware upgrades.
2023 Ford F-150 Rattler Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler will come heavily based on the XL trim. However, it will also come with lots of exclusive features. First of all, it will be available in either Super Cab or Super Crew layout, while you will also have to pick one of the optional engines. Still, the most important are those off-road upgrades. You get things like an electronic locking rear differential, hill descent control, shock absorbers tuned for off-roading, all-terrain tires etc. Also, you get a set of skid plates, which protect the fuel tank, transfer case, and front differential.
Besides these important off-road upgrades, the F-150 Rattler will also come with lots of exclusive styling details, which will accentuate the model’s off-road nature. One of the first things you’ll notice is a set of new 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as the new dual-pipe exhaust system. Furthermore, you may count on things like “Rattler” badges on fenders and “Rattler” graphics.
A couple of exclusive interior design features will come as well. You may count on things like bronze accents and stitching. Still, keep in mind that this model is based on the XL trim, so the cabin layout will remain relatively simple, with cheaper materials and less aesthetical upgrades. Also, the list of standard equipment won’t be particularly long. You may count on things like an 8-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, single-zone climate control, power windows etc.
As we already mentioned, the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler will be offered either in Super Cab or Super Crew layouts. Both cabins come with two rows of seats and accommodate up to five passengers.
2023 Ford F-150 Rattler Engines
From what we know so far, the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler won’t be available with the base 3.3-liter V6. Instead, the offer will start with the 2.7-liter turbocharged V6, which puts out around 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. A great thing to know is that you can also configure this pickup with the good-old 5.0-liter Coyote V8, which will make those dual exhaust pipes sing. This engine puts out around 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, you can opt for the capable 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which also puts out 400 horsepower but offers way more torque than Coyote, around 500 pound-feet.
All engines come coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2023 Ford F-150 Rattler Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler will arrive later this year, though the exact date is yet to be announced. When it comes to the price, we estimate it will start at around 40.000 dollars.
