We are talking about a quintessential pickup, which has so many great things to offer. We like its strong off-road capability, along with excellent reliability and durability. Furthermore, the list of standard and available safety features is pretty impressive. Still, the best thing about this pickup is a high level of customization. There are so many versions of this pickup and the 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 will be one of them.
The SR5 is one of the most popular choices among Tacoma buyers, mainly because of the excellent balance between the price and the amount of equipment. Also, it comes with strong off-road capabilities, while buyers can also choose various packages, and even have a choice between two engines. For the next year, the company has prepared two new packages, called SX and Chrome packages. Other than that, things will remain the same.
2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Design
Design-wise, the 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 will carry on in the same way. The current generation has been around since 2015 and it looks like the next year’s model won’t be much different in this aspect. The overall layout will remain the same, which also means that the SR5 will continue in the same configurations. This pickup is available either in Access or Double Cab layout, with different bed sizes, different powertrain choices etc.
What we like about is the level of customization options. The 2023 Tacoma SR5 will continue in the same way, with familiar features, but also with a couple of new optional packages.
Features
The SR5 is the second most affordable trim level in Tacoma’s lineup. Still, it comes with a pretty generous list of standard equipment. You may count on an 8-inch touchscreen, with comes with the latest infotainment system and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. The list of standard equipment also includes satellite radio, three USB ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a leather-wrapped steering wheel etc. When it comes to safety features, you may count on things like forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and more.
As we already mentioned, this trim level is available with two engines and what’s interesting is that some of the features are reserved only for models that use a V6 engine. These versions come standard with alloy wheels, chrome exterior trim, power-sliding rear window, dual-zone climate control etc.
Packages
Another thing we like about this Tacoma is the availability of various optional packages. The 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 will come with two completely new packages. These are called the SX and Chrome packages. The SX package adds various exlusive styling details, such as black over-fenders, black 16-inch wheels with black lug nuts, SX graphics etc. The Chrome package comes with 18-inch chrome wheels and lots of chrome exterior details, as well as with a leather-wrapped shifter on the inside.
Also, there are three already familiar available packages in Tacoma SR5. One of them is called the Dynamic Navigation package, which comes with a navigation system and rear parking sensors. The Technology package adds a couple of advanced safety features, such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Finally, there is the Trail Edition package, with goodies like all-terrain tires, suspension lift, black exterior badging, exclusive grille design with bronze details, unique seat trim, 120-volt bed power outlet and more.
Keep in mind that all these optional packages are available only with the V6 model.
2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Engines
Under the hood, the 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 will continue with two familiar engine options. Base models will continue with a 2.7-liter inline-four, which features a max output of 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Considering the numbers, it’s quite obvious that this engine doesn’t impress with its performance. Therefore, the optional 3.5-liter V6 seems like a much better choice, with a max output of 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come with a relatively decent 6-speed automatic transmission.
When it comes to fuel economy, the base inline-four returns around 20 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. On the other hand, the V6 returns around 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Toyota Tacoma SR5 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 30.000 dollars. Key competitors will be similarly priced versions of Chevy Colorado, Ford Ranger etc.
