2022 Ram 1500 Diesel Preview: Interior, Trim Level, Diesel

We can find a lot of reports about updates for the next year’s Ram 1500. However, this particularly refers to gasoline models, which could come with new optional packages in the offer. On the other hand, the 2022 Ram 1500 Diesel is expected to carry on in the same way. It will continue to deliver the same performance and overall design, but there is always a chance to see a couple of new things in terms of standard equipment and similar things.

You may count on a familiar layout. This isn’t the fastest Ram truck you can get, but it is pretty capable in every other aspect. At the same time, it is far more efficient compared to gasoline counterparts. Of course, we like the model’s high-end interior, as well as a pretty long list of standard and available equipment.

2022 Ram 1500 Diesel Redesign

Design-wise, the 2022 Ram 1500 Diesel will remain the same. The overall layout is the same as in gasoline models, which means you may count on familiar configurations in the offer, whether it’s about cab styles or bed lengths. The current generation has been around for a couple of years and it still looks pretty fresh. Also, one of its biggest strengths compared to rivals is a pretty advanced suspension setup.

Styling-wise, we don’t expect bigger changes either. Some sources were speculating about the facelifts, but it still seems too early for such an update. On the other hand, there is always a chance for smaller updates, such as new color options.

The same thing is with interior design. This pickup features by far the nicest cabin design in the class. Whether it’s about materials, aesthetics or build quality, the Ram 1500 is way above rivals like F-150 and Silverado 1500. The 2022 Ram 1500 Diesel won’t be an exception and we count on the same layout, with minor updates only. Those updates may refer to things like color schemes, materials and similar things.

Trim Levels

We presume that the availability of diesel across the range will remain the same. So, the oil-burner will be available in all versions except for the high-performance TRX.

The offer will start with the Tradesman, which is a well-known work mule that comes with basic features only. The Big Horn offers a couple of upgrades, including aluminum wheels and available smartphone integration. Like always, the Lariat trim will be a sweet spot, meaning a lot of features for the money. Some of the highlights are things like 8.4-inch touchscreen, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, power accessories etc.

The Longhorn brings a couple of visual upgrades, including side steps. Also, there are more standard features, such as navigation, parking sensors, a spray-in bedliner and in-bed lighting etc.

Finally, there is the range-topping Limited model, which adds a 12-inch touchscreen, four-corner air suspension,  wireless charging pad, premium leather bucket seats, power-deployable running boards, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

2022 Ram 1500 Diesel Engine

Of course, the 2022 Ram 1500 Diesel will continue with the same 3.0-liter turbodiesel under the hood. This engine puts out around 260 horsepower and pretty impressive 480 pound-feet of torque. The power is sent through 8-speed automatic transmission. With 0-60 time in about 8 seconds, this version is far from the fastest, but the massive torque ensures moving this truck with ease.

Moreover, that max torque is also the reason for pretty impressive towing capacity, which goes up to 12.600 pounds. Also, you may count on pretty impressive fuel economy, which goes around 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
