Last year, the Japanese manufacturer introduced a special, limited package called Trail Edition. With all the visual upgrades it brought, it became very popular among buyers who didn’t need a full load of off-road features from the TRD Pro, but wanted to have the same look. Therefore, Toyota management has decided to offer this version for the next year and we are bringing this great news to you. Yes, you may count on the 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition.
Not only that the Trail Edition will be available for the next year, it will also come with further upgrades, which will make it tougher than before. Besides the unique styling details, the next year’s model will also come with novelties in terms of off-road goodies. You may count on upgraded suspension, new wheels, skid plates and more.
We presume that the 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition will arrive along with the rest of the lineup, sometime late in the year.
2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition Redesign
Once again, the 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition will come as an optional package, which will be an upgrade of the SR5 model. Therefore, the overall layout will be pretty familiar. On the other hand, the list of novelties for the next year will include a couple of pretty interesting things. First of all, the suspension setup will be upgraded and you may count on higher ground clearance – 1.1 inches at the front and 0.5 inches on the rear end. Also, it will come with a limited slip differential and skid plates, to name a few off-road goodies. Furthermore, we should mention new Bronze wheels, which not only look great but also provide a 1.5-inch wider track.
Other than that, the next year’s model will carry on with familiar upgrades. This means a lot of new styling details, such as a TRD Pro-inspired grille, more rugged bumpers etc. This package is available only with Double Cab models.
On the inside, things will be pretty much the same. This model is based on the SR5 trim level, so you may count on a familiar cabin layout as well. Still, there are few notable upgrades. The seat upholstery is different, while all-weather floor mats are also part of the standard equipment. Furthermore, you may count on a 120V bed power outlet, locking storage bins etc.
The overall cabin layout will remain pretty much the same. This model offers a decent amount of space, though taller passengers may have trouble with headroom. The overall build quality is at a pretty high level, even though most materials are hard to the touch.
Once again, we should mention that this model is based on the SR5 trim level. So, the list of standard equipment is pretty much the same. Besides the aforementioned off-road and styling upgrades, this model also comes with a long list of standard comfort and convenience features. For example, an 8-inch infotainment system is standard, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The list of standard equipment also includes things like power-sliding rear window, power-adjustable driver’s seat, auto-dimming mirror, leather-wrapped steering wheel etc.
There are also a few really usable driver aids and safety features, such as a rearview camera, forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control etc.
2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition Engine
Things under the hood are pretty clear here. The 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition will continue with a familiar V6 engine, which puts out around 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which does a decent job but can hesitate with shifts sometimes. All in all, the overall performance seems decent enough, though we would like to see a little bit more power in this pickup.
2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition will arrive sometime late in the year. The current model starts at around 35.000 dollars. However, we expect that the next year’s model will cost a little bit higher, due to more off-road upgrades.
