Considering that several design characteristics of it are already known, it’s no reason that many sources suggest the new model will come as the 2022 Mitsubishi Triton.
In any case, the next-generation Triton is about to come with all kinds of interesting novelties. A completely new design will bring interesting solutions in various aspects. Of course, most people currently talk about electrified powertrain. Still, there is much more, starting from the fact that the new model will have a lot in common with Nissan’s pickup trucks. The two companies will work together on new models and it looks like the first one to come will be from Mitsubishi.
2022 Mitsubishi Triton Redesign
The current generation has been around since 2015, so we can say that the Japanese manufacturer doesn’t need to rush with this redesign. However, the latest reports suggest that the company won’t wait for too much either. One of the reasons is the fact that Mitsubishi is now part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, so there is no doubt it will benefit a lot from joint development.
Therefore, one of the most interesting things about the 2022 Mitsubishi Triton is the platform. Obviously, the next-generation Triton and Navara will ride on the same architecture. According to most reports, we are about to see a familiar F-Alpha platform, which underprints current Nissan trucks as well. Of course, this platform would have to go under significant updates, considering that one of the key plans for the future is electrification. Of course, improvements in other aspects are expected as well, particularly in terms of weight reduction, driveability etc.
2022 Mitsubishi Triton Powertrain

So, seeing one of them under the hood of 2022 Mitsubishi Triton seems quite attractive. However, it looks like the company doesn’t plan such an engine for the new model, at least not for the initial launch.

At this point, it is too early to talk about the exact look of the new model. Still, if we look at the direction the Japanese manufacturer is going, some things seem pretty obvious. This particularly refers to the front face, which should be heavily inspired by the Engelberg Tourer concept. Also, we expect that the new model will feature a little bit of bigger dimensions. This particularly refers to the wheelbase, which currently measures just 118 inches.
When it comes to interior design, big novelties are expected as well. This current model is characterized by a pretty simplistic cabin and trends in the truck world are going in the completely opposite direction. These are not just working machines anymore, but also vehicles with great-looking and hi-quality cabins. The new Isuzu D-Max is a perfect example.
