2022 Holden Colorado: Is Replacement On the Way?

0

Last year, the Holden brand was discontinued by General Motors and the thing that bothers many Australians is what will happen with the brand’s most important model, Colorado. At this point, it’s not available in showrooms but we hope things could change soon. According to some reports, the 2022 Holden Colorado won’t come, but we could see its rebadged version, with Chevy’s emblem at the front.

If this happens, we presume that we won’t be seeing it as Colorado. Many sources suggest that the Brazilian version of the truck is the one that will make it to Australia. This model is known as Chevy S10. Others believe that Chevy should rather stick to a familiar nameplate.

2022 Holden Colorado Redesign

So, how would 2022 Holden Colorado look like? Well, we won’t see a completely new design. Despite that the current generation has been around for a full decade, GM doesn’t plan to redesign it that soon. The current generation has just been updated, for the third time. The recent update has brought two new faces, depending on the version you choose. In both cases, you may count on a new grille design, new LED headlights and several more new details.

We presume that the Australian version would come in the same way. We expect that the current form will remain active for a couple more years. Also, we count on familiar layouts in the offer, so the 2022 Holden Colorado’s successor would be available in different bed sizes and cab configurations, with seating capacity from 2 to5 passengers.

Interior

As we’ve just mentioned, different cab designs would be offered for sure. The standard regular cab model accommodates two passengers, while the double cab model can carry five adults. In both cases, you may count on the same interior design, in terms of the dashboard layout. This truck hasn’t changed too much since the initial launch when it comes to the interior. You may still count on a cabin that’s rather functional than stylish. Most materials are hard to touch, while aesthetics definitely belong to another era of the automotive industry.

On the other side, this truck comes packed with a decent amount of tech features. Things like a touchscreen interface and smartphone integration goodies like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are all part of the standard equipment. The list of standard equipment also includes a Wi-Fi hotspot, as well as a couple of useful safety features, such as automatic emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring etc.

2022 Holden Colorado Engines

The 2022 Holden Colorado may come with a new name, but the engine lineup will remain the same. Therefore, we have no doubt that the capable turbodiesel will remain the main choice among Australian buyers. This 2.8-liter four-cylinder unit puts out around 147 kW and 470 Nm, which is more than enough to provide respectable performance. The acceleration is solid, while fuel economy remains pretty good, even under heavy exploitation. Most importantly, the massive torque ensures a pretty amazingly max towing rating, which goes over 3.5 tons. The engine comes in pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

We believe that a gasoline version would be offered as well. However, it definitely won’t be the V6, but rather a smaller and more affordable 2.5-liter inline-four, which puts out around 154 kW. This engine also comes in pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

2022 Holden Colorado Release Date and Price

Many believe that the successor could come already in the second half of the year. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect things to be much different. So, base models should go around 31.000 AUD. Of course, key competitors will remain the same, models like Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara etc.
