The Australian market has always been special if for anything else, the for a plethora of unique nameplates and car brands. Jokes aside, this part of the world is well known for the great popularity of pickup trucks. Unlike North Americans, Aussie drivers prefer something a little bit smaller. In this part of the world, you can find pretty much every mid-size truck that exists. One of them is 2019 Holden Colorado, which comes with a few interesting novelties, despite the fact it was refreshed not so long ago.
While base models continue with a familiar design, there is a new Z71 Extreme version, the most bad-ass Holden we’ve ever seen, probably. It comes with plenty of unique details, a real upgrade of the famous off-road trim. The new model, as well as the rest of the lineup, is already available on the market.
2019 Holden Colorado redesign
When it comes to standard models, this year won’t bring anything special. Base 2019 Holden Colorado specs have remained the same. It is pretty much the same truck from the last year, which rides on a familiar architecture, featuring pretty much the same characteristics as its Chevy-badged twin.
Compared to the North American twin, it features minor visual tweaks, but the rest is completely the same. Both trucks feature the same 128.3-inch wheelbase and around 210 inches in overall length. Also, two models come with the same cab design in the offer, with either a single or two rows of seating. The biggest difference is in terms of styling, since the Holden features a little bit different design language. It has been updated recently, when we saw several new parts, including new fascia, headlights, bumpers etc.
2019 Holden Colorado interior and features
The cabin of this truck haven’t changed for all these years. The current generation is present for about six year and still goes with a familiar cabi design. Still, the company has been updating it with new features constantly. This includes tech features too, so the 2019 Holden Colorado comes with the newest infotainment system, forward collision warning with head-up alert, front parking sensors and much more. The trim level organization remains the same, with the exception of the new Z71 Extreme version. So, there are following variants in the offer:
The base DX is a bare-bone version, with steel wheels and almost no tech features. The next one is called LX. This one adds a few things, including cruise controle, power mirrors and similar thing. The LT adds fog lamps and few more things, while the LTZ is characterized by 17-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights and several visual details. Finally, there is an off-road Z71 version, as well as the new Z71 Extreme, which comes with a complete off-road gear and plenty of visual enhancements too..
2019 Holden Colorado Z71 extreme
When it comes to the new Z71 Extreme version, it comes with lots of unique details. These details are mostly in terse of new accessories and few styling upgrades. The new version comes with an upgrades grille and few more visual novelties, while the rest of new things is practically all about accessories. There are so many of them that the company had to install new front springs, which are able to stand all that additional weight. This is actually the only mechanical change over the standard Z71 model. Even the engine remains the same. It is a familiar 200-hp 2.8-liter turbo diesel, which powers all the Colorado models.
2019 Holden Colorado engine
As we’ve just mentioned, this truck comes with only one engine in the offer. It is a familiar 2.8-liter turbo inline-four diesel unit, which delivers around 200 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque, which comes in a pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Seems like a perfect engine for this occasion. It delivers a respectable amount of power but also provides very good economy ratings. Another benefit from this engine in plenty of torque, which makes this truck pretty capable in terms of towing. According to the manufacturer, a max towing capacity goes over 7.500 pounds, which is among the best results in the class.
2019 Holden Colorado pricing
When it comes to the price, there are not many changes compared to the previous-year model. Base versions are available at 47.000 Australian Dollars, which is somewhere around 33.000 USD. On the other side, the new 2019 Holden Colorado Z71 Extreme goes all away up to 70.000 Australian Dollars.
