2019 Ford F-650 Towing capacity, Specs, Engine

Commercial vehicles in Ford’s lineup are very specific. Tax breaks are making them more interesting. Still, you will not buy these models for every day commuting, but for hard work. You can find the 2019 Ford F-650 at construction areas, where big loads are waiting for transportation. With towing capacity up to 50,000 pounds, the trucks can pull a lot of loads. Well, if you don’t need so much power, you can always opt for lighter variants with 20k, 30k, or 40k pounds towing capacity. There are also other options, at first place petrol and diesel engine.

Over the last 40 years, a lot of things changed in the trucking segment. But, Ford’s commercial models are still tough and capable to work. The company is not affected by changes in joint ventures, prices, partnerships with engine and gearbox suppliers. But, the 2019 Ford F-650 is an all American truck. Wheels, seats, drivetrain, frame… Even the Power Stroke diesel engine replaced Cummins unit some while ago. Furthermore, the cab options will make more choices to make it friendlier for occupants.

2019 Ford F-650 Specs

Back in 2016, Ford replaced an old Cummins diesel unit with its own Power Stroke engine. The first couple of years this engine showed durability and capability, so it earned a spot under the hood of next editions. No big updates are coming for the 2019 Ford F-650. Well, we can find a 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8 as powertrains for Super Duty lineup (F-250, F-350, and F-450). Still, the version for F-650 is downtuned.

Super Duty trucks can produce 450 hp and over 900 lb-ft of torque. For extended lifespan, engineers are putting down these numbers to 330 hp and 725 lb-ft of torque. Still, there are other versions returning even less energy and twist. Mid-range models are offering 300hp and 700 lb-ft, and the least power comes from a base truck with 270 ponies and 675 pound-feet. Special models are going up to 360 hp and 800 lb-ft of torque.

The Power Stroke in it is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. A power take-off is a special option for energy supply method.  

Petrol Engine

Under the hood of the 2019 Ford F-650 is a petrol engine as well. However, the Blue Oval company didn’t decide to offer the same V8 unit as for Super Duty’s turbodiesel. In this case, engineers are using one of the famous Triton powertrains. A 6.8-liter V10 is available both for F-650 and F-750. The base setup offers 320 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. However, the engine is also open to taking CNG/Propane package. A six-speed automatic transmission is the same as the one Power Stroke is using. The TorqShift case is coming with power take-off.

2019 Ford F-650 Styling 

We will find many similarities between 2019 Ford F-650 and its siblings. First, there is an E-Series vans, and also Super Duty truck segment. But, the F-650 will offer some unique upgrades, such as grille. Well, headlights are definitely following the styling from the E-Series again. Hood is much different from F-250 / F-350 trucks than we expected. Other shapes and structures are pretty much the same. Cab configurations are the notable similarity. The base setup comes with a Regular Cab. More passengers can seat in Super Cab, but the truck keeps two doors. Five-seats four-door layout means the truck is using Crew Cab configuration.

The ladder frame is larger than for the Super Duty segment. Well, everything is huger for light-duty class. The position of the fuel tank is where we used to see it on big trucks – behind driver’s doors.

Interior

Inside the 2019 Ford F-650, we will find pretty much the same features and equipment as on the Super Duty models. Well, at first sight, will be obvious this is a working mule and not the vehicle for showing off. No leather, no MyFord accessories, of too many wooden/aluminum details. Still, there are old-school features like windows design or AM/FM radio.

The truck is very spacious and comfortable. Also, controls are easy to reach and use. Touchscreen display comes with SYNC infotainment system. The company promises that the interior is designed to support long seating behind the steering wheel. Some function buttons are also available there. The cab is very quiet, although the huge displacements could be noisy when producing so much power.

2019 Ford F-650 Price

The 2019 Ford F-650 pricing will start from $56,000. The cost is not changing since the eight generation is on the market. Still, if you want to add a diesel engine, you will have to spend $10,000 more. That is not all. If buyers want a Tractor upgrade, then the price can reach $70,000. Other options include above-mentioned cab configurations and other technology upgrades. The truck supports Apple CarPlay and navigation, which can be obtained by additional purchase.
