2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty Preview: Specs, Changes, Features

0

The new generation of the standard, light-duty model is here and it brings a lot of big novelties. Of course, we expect the same from Super Duty iterations but the latest reports suggest that the Blue Oval company won’ rush with this model. Simply, the current generation has been around for about 3-4 years and we presume it will remain in production for a few more. Obviously, this means that the 2022 Ford F-250 should feature no bigger changes.

This means you may count on a familiar layout, which still has a lot of good things to offer. The first thing that comes to mind is the impressive engine lineup, but you may also count on a lot of advanced tech features that make this truck one of the most capable models in the class. Considering that no bigger changes are expected, the launch date should be scheduled for the second half of 2021.

2022 Ford F-250 Redesign

As we already mentioned, the current generation is still relatively fresh and the 2022 Ford F-250 shouldn’t feature more significant changes. The overall layout will certainly remain the same. It is based on, now, the previous generation of the standard F-150 and the biggest benefit from such a design approach is the massive use of lightweight materials, such as aluminum and HSS.

Compared to the light-duty model, this 3/4-ton variant comes with an upgraded suspension setup, which provides better towing and hauling capacities. Although, differences are quite noticeable in terms of the styling, as this model looks bolder and more rugged. We don’t expect that anything will change in the next year.

The cabin also won’t feature more significant changes.  It looks okay but it definitely isn’t the most attractive in the class. In this aspect, Ram 2500 is by far the best choice in the class. In the case of the 2022 Ford F-250, the cabin will remain the same, full of hard but durable plastics and a genuine truck design. Of course, you may count on familiar cab designs, as well as on familiar trim levels.

Each trim could come with some novelties but most of the things will certainly remain the same. So, the base XL model will remain a bare-bone workhorse, while the XLT will be a bit of an upgrade, which adds things like power-adjustable heated mirrors, cloth upholstery, power windows, cruise control, a USB connection, and the Sync 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

For those who are looking for a mid-range option, the Lariat seems like a perfect choice, while Platinum and Limited are the most equipped and most luxurious versions of the truck. Those who look for something with exclusive styling details should consider the Kind Ranch version as well.

2022 Ford F-250 Engines

This aspect of the 2022 Ford F-250 definitely won’t bring any particular changes. You may count on three familiar engine options. The offer starts with a familiar 6.2-liter V8, which is good for about 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. There is also a new 7.3-liter V8, which is good for about 435 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. Finally, there is a well-known, monstrous 6.7 turbodiesel, which delivers 475 horsepower and 1.050 pound-feet of torque.

When it comes to transmission, the base engine comes coupled with a 6-speed automatic, while the other two use a new 10-speed unit.
