By Bringing back familiar models and nameplates is a quite common thing on today’s market and if consider that the segment of pickup trucks is more popular than ever, it’s no wonder that there are rumors that suggest a comeback of the familiar Suburban-based pickup truck, this time in the form of 2022 Chevy Avalanche. This pickup truck was in production from 2001 to 2013 and we saw two generations of it in that period. Now it looks like it’s time for the third iteration.
At this point, it’s hard to talk about details but on the other side, it’s quite easy to speculate about the overall design, considering that the new 2022 Chevy Avalanche would certainly be based on the Suburban if it comes. This doesn’t include mechanics only, but also a lot of exterior design and cabin layout. Naturally, there is always plenty of room for exclusive details.
2022 Chevy Avalanche Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, it’s quite easy to predict some of the most basic characteristics of the 2022 Chevy Avalanche. This particularly refers to mechanics, which would be pretty much identical to the SUV sibling, Suburban. This means the same platform and chassis, which would include the independent rear suspension as well, which would make a qualitative difference compared to the Silverado. Also, the Avalanche would be notably smaller, as it would feature the same 134.5-inch wheelbase as the Suburban.
A lot of things in common are expected in terms of the styling as well. This particularly refers to the front end, which should be pretty much identical. Moreover, things should be pretty much the same all away to the C-Pillar. Behind that, you may count on a relatively short cargo bed, which will replace the third row and cargo area.
Interior
The same thing is expected on the inside, where the dashboard should be identical to the large SUV. This means an attractive and quite luxurious layout, full of attractive design solutions, nice materials and tech features. The cabin will come with all kinds of tech and safety features, already in base models. We presume that the trim level organization would be pretty much the same as in the SUV sibling.
When it comes to seating configuration, we count on two rows that offer virtually the same amount of passenger space as the Suburban. This would mean around 44.5 inches of legroom in the first row and 42 inches in the second. The cargo area and third row would be replaced with a cargo bed, which won’t be particularly spacious but should be decent enough.
2022 Chevy Avalanche Engines
Once again, no one expects bigger surprises. We count on three familiar engine options, to gasoline units and one oil burner. Base models would come with a 5.3-liter V8, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. There is also a bigger and more power 6.2-liter V8, which is good for about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, there is a diesel option, which would come with a familiar 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which is good for about 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. All three engines would come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2022 Chevy Avalanche Release Date
The 2022 Chevy Avalanche is just a rumor at this point. So, you should take this article with a big reserve. At this point, the officials are still quiet on this matter and the chances to see this model revived are actually not particularly big. Still, some rumors suggest it may count already this year, in the form of a concept. Stay tuned for more details.
