The 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD will come after the recent redesign, so no one expects to see bigger changes. We count on the same overall design, though there is always space to see some interesting yearly updates. In most cases, this refers to new standard features, but it looks like GM may bring some software updates as well. Other than that, things should remain pretty much the same. The 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD will carry on with familiar feature and we don’t expect to see changes under the hood either.

The next-year model will continue with the same engines in the offer, which also means you may count on the same ratings in terms of capabilities. This truck will continue to be one of the best working machines in the business, which isn’t just great in terms of work but also does the job in a comfortable and convenient way.

2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD Changes

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD shouldn’t feature too many changes. It is still early for bigger novelties, but it looks like the company prepares an update of software and a trailering camera system. This update will come to all Sierra HD and Silverado HD models. The current model already consists of 15 cameras, which offer all kinds of views. You can see your truck and trailer from numerous angles – ahead of the pickup, to the sides, behind the bed, around the hitch, inside the bed, several top-down views, behind the trailer etc.

This should be the biggest update for the next year. Other than that, we don’t expect to see too many important novelties, though novelties in terms of standard equipment are always welcome. Each trim level should come with a couple of additions.

2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD Engines

This is the aspect where definitely don’t expect to see any particular change. The 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD will carry on with two familiar engine options. Base models will continue with a new 6.6-liter gasoline V8 engine. It delivers around 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes in pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

A well-known 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8 has been updated for the recent redesign and now delivers more power and torque. The exact numbers go around 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque and it is the first choice of most Sierra HD buyers. This engine comes with a new 10-speed automatic transmission.

Both engines are great in terms of working capabilities. Still, a diesel option is an obvious choice for towing. With this engine, a, properly equipped 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD will be able to tow more than 18.500 pounds.

Exterior and Interior

This aspect probably won’t bring any particular change, although there are some reports that suggest we could see changes in terms of the exterior design. According to them, we could see some revisions on grille design, considering that the new generation comes with different approaches, depending on the trim level you choose. However, the latest reports suggest this won’t happen and that things are about to remain the same. This includes the flagship Denali trim, which is expected to carry on with the same grille design as well.

The same thing goes for interior design. The 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD will carry on with the same cabin, which is characterized by a decent overall quality, though most experts suggest it is still far away from some rivals in terms of quality. On the other side, the cabin is perfectly functional and comes in different configurations in terms of seating capacity, size etc.

Trim Levels

The base trim level organization will remain the same. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see novelties. Each trim is expected to come with some novelties. The base Sierra model is a typical workhorse, with the highest towing ratings in the group. Still, the list of standard equipment includes things like a touchscreen, smartphone integration, Bluetooth etc.

The SLE trim level is a bit of upgrade, which currently comes standard with things like Wi-Fi hotspot, cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel.

An 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, dual-zone automatic climate control and power-adjustable front seats are some of the things you get with the SLT model.

The AT4 is an off-road version of the truck, which comes with both visual and mechanical upgrades. Some of the highlights are things like lifted suspension, additional skid plates, dark chrome trim etc.
