While the next-generation of the light-duty F-150 is on the way, the Super Duty models will remain in the current form for a couple of more years. This includes the 2021 Ford F-450 as well. If you look at the company’s lineup, it’s pretty easy to conclude that this version is more capable than F-250 and F-350 models. This refers both to numbers and performances in real life and we can say that this is one of the most capable non-commercial trucks you can find around.
Of course, the core of this truck is a mighty turbodiesel engine. Still, there is actually much more, including an extra-wide front axle, which ensures much better maneuverability in tight places. Despite we are talking about an ultimate workhorse, this pickup truck comes with loads of convenience features as well, including all kinds of tech goodies on the list of standard equipment. We are pretty sure that the 2021 Ford F-450 won’t feature any particular change. Therefore, it should hit the market sometime late in the year.
2021 Ford F-450 Engine
When it comes to the powertrain, things are pretty simple with this model, as there is just one engine in the offer. Of course, we are talking about a mighty 6.7-liter turbodiesel. It has been updated last year and now delivers an impressive output of 475 horsepower and even more impressive 1.050 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. So, it’s pretty obvious that you can expect nothing but impressive performances with this one.
When it comes to towing capacity, this model goes all-away up to impressive 37.000 pounds. Of course, you will have to pick a single cab model for maximum ratings. Still, models with bigger cabins are pretty capable as well. Speaking of towing, the recent update has brought a couple of nice updates. The first one is an updated Trailer Reverse Guidance, while the other one is a new Pro Trailer Backup Assist. The latter is a steering assist system, which makes reversing with a trail much easier.
Although we might see a couple of additions for the next year, the base trim level organization will definitely remain the same. Therefore, you may count on familiar versions. Those would be XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited.
The base XL model comes with things like air conditioning, vinyl seat and floor coverings, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and manual windows and door locks. You may also count on a decent number of tech goodies. Those would be things like a rearview camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi etc.
The XLT is a bit of an upgrade. It comes with goodies like chrome exterior trim, cloth upholstery, carpeted floors, and power-operated mirrors, windows and door locks. In terms of tech goodies, you may count on an 8-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This model also comes standard with Co-Pilot360, which packs several advanced safety and driver-assist features.
As you may presume, Lariat is a mid-range trim level. It offers a great balance between the price and the number of goodies. The aspect where this model brings a lot of upgrades compared to cheaper versions is in terms of comfort and convenience. You may count on leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, power-adjustable pedals, premium audio system and more. Parking sensors and dual-zone climate controls are also on the list of standard equipment.
Pretty much every pickup truck offers a Western-themed version. In the case of Ford pickups, that would be King Ranch model. The first thing you’ll notice is a full load of exclusive visual details, both outside and on the inside. However, there is also a number of upgrades in terms of standard equipment. Some of the highlights are things like remote engine starting, automatic wipers with a de-icing function, a power-remote tailgate release, wireless device charging, navigation etc.
The Platinum trim makes this truck pretty luxurious, as it adds premium leather and heated seats. Also, some of the highlights are adaptive steering, adaptive cruise control, LED headlights and foglights, power-deploying side steps, and a built-in tailgate step.
Finally, there is the Limited trim, which is the most luxurious version of the truck. It comes standard with upgraded leather upholstery, massaging seats, dual sunroof, as well as with a unique grille design.
