Moreover, it looks like the company is about to have everything in full control, as the latest reports suggest an update for the next year, despite we are talking about a relatively fresh pickup truck. The exact points of the 2021 SsangYong Musso update are still unclear, but it looks like the focus will probably be on the interior design and a couple of mechanical tweaks. On the other side, the styling probably won’t suffer too much, while the engine lineup is about to remain the same.
2021 SsangYong Musso Exterior Changes
As we already mentioned, the exterior of 2021 SsangYong Musso probably won’t suffer too much. The current model already looks pretty attractive, better than most mid-size pickup trucks on the market. Therefore, the best we could see in this aspect are new color options, wheels and similar things. On the other side, we might see a couple of mechanical tweaks. While the standard model comes with a modern five-link suspension, the long-wheelbase version (available in Australia), comes with traditional leaf springs, which isn’t something you would expect to see in the third half of the third millennium. Therefore, we might see something more up to date in this model.
Interior Changes
On the other side, the interior changes could be more interesting. The current model looks pretty good from the inside. While some previous models from the Korean manufacturer were criticized for poor interior quality, things are more than decent in this case. The dashboard looks pretty attractive, so you could easily mistake it for some crossover. Still, materials aren’t so spectacular in lower trims, and that is the area where we could see some improvements. On the other side, there is no room for complaints when it comes to riding quality. This model is definitely on par or even better than some utes in the class. The ride is smooth, while the sound insulation is pretty amazing.
Another thing we like about this model is that the level of standard equipment is pretty good. Of course, this includes various tech goodies as well, particularly in terms of a pretty good infotainment system and responsive touchscreen, which include smartphone integration as well. Of course, we could see a couple of additions in the next year.
2021 SsangYong Musso Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, things are expected to remain the same. Depending on the market, this pickup truck is available in one or two variants. In most markets, you may count on a pretty good 2.2-liter turbodiesel, which is good for about 180 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Although not the highest torque and power in the class, these numbers provide pretty strong capabilities, thanks to the truck’s well-designed chassis and suspension. With this engine, you may count on respectable 3.5 tons or 7.700 pounds of max towing capacity, which puts this model on par with segment leaders.
In some parts of the world, you can also get a 2.0-liter gasoline unit, which is good for about 225 horsepower. It’s not as capable as turbodiesel in terms of towing, but it is quicker and also very refined. No matter the engine, you can choose between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Despite the possible updates, we don’t expect to see 2021 SsangYong Musso before the last quarter of the years. When it comes to the price, figures can vary depending on the market.
