2020 Ram 2500 Mega Cab Cummins, Limited

0

Recently, spy photographers caught the entire convoy of Ram HD trucks. So, we can be certain about 2020 Ram 2500 Mega Cab, Laramie Longhorn, and the Limited model. Of course, the lineup will be even larger when the new pickup comes to the market. But, the spy photos are saying that definitely something is going on. The Mega cab will be the star of the lineup, whilst buyers can also pick Regular or Crew Cab.

The 2020 Ram 2500 Mega Cab will be available on the upper trim levels. Its unique cabin configuration is drawing attention. This is more expensive than the Crew Cab setup. Well, both versions are using the same drivetrains, including both petrol and diesel options. Mega Cab trucks are 4×4 only and two-wheel drive is not available. Also, the difference between this and the rest of the lineup is in the box length. Ram 1500 will offer a completely unique drive that differs from the other vehicles, not only among its family.

Drivetrains

The 2020 Ram 2500 Mega Cab will keep both options available for a heavy-duty segment. The base drivetrain is a 6.4-liter V8 engine. FCA is using this one on some of the most powerful vehicles it offers for a drive, not only for work. With the standard setup, this mill can provide 410 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque for the HD truck. The Mega Cab package decreases the output to 370 horsepower. The engine is sending power through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Chevy and Ford are using more advanced cases with more gears, and FCA replaced an old six-pace gearbox. Still, the Ram 2500 gets enough power and torque for everyday tasks. The company is not bringing back a 5.7-liter V8 engine, not for the Mega Cab, or any other configurations.

Diesel

Turbodiesel engines are definitely what make HD trucks so cool. With a lot of torque, these units are ready to pull more than petrol powertrains. For the 2020 Ram 2500 Mega Cab, there is a 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel mill with the capability to produce 350-385 hp, depending on the configuration. Mega Cab is not available with manual transmission and with an automatic gearbox, the output is 370 hp. Ram 3500 adds 15 hp more. Torque is at 800 lb-ft. Higher outputs achieve over 900 pound-feet and the Ram 3500 with the fifth wheel can tow more than 30,000 pounds.

Ram 2500 HD truck can haul 20,000 lbs with Cummins turbodiesel, and around 17,000 lbs with 6.4-l Hemi engine. Both drivetrains are sending power to all wheels when you choose the Mega Cab. Energy goes to the rear axle only if you want Crew or Regular Cab. Also, the diesel engine is available with a six-speed gearbox.

2020 Ram 2500 Mega Cab Trim Levels and Options

The 2020 Ram 2500 Mega Cab is not going to be available with the base Tradesman trim level. The four packages are available if you choose this cabin configuration – Big Horn, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited. We see few versions missing here, including the entry-level Tradesman and off-road oriented Power Wagon.

So, what do we get from each package? The Big Horn is offering the same features as the Tradesman. This suite will boost the appearance with chrome details on grille and bumpers. The black surrounding is stylish and eye-catching. Standard offer includes 18-inch wheels. Inside we find cloth seats and the Ram offers remote keyless entry. Drivers will find heated mirrors and trailer brake control pretty helpful.

Laramie is one of the favorite trim levels across the entire Ram truck lineup. Fully chrome grille and more options for wheels are a couple of reasons. But, as soon as you step inside the truck you will find more upgrades. Leather seats are the most notable, as well as heated front buckets with 10-way adjustable positions. Uconnect system is upgraded and park assist is another driver-friendly feature.

Laramie Longhorn is a premium offer with unique styling and interior details. Unique paintjobs inside and outside, as well as LED headlamps are making this model so special. Also, you will recognize the 2020 Ram 2500 Mega Cab with this package thanks to the chrome steps and signatures around the vehicle. Navigation is standard on an 8.4-inch touchscreen display. If you think that is all, the Limited model will take your breath away with 20-inch wheels and a 12-inch screen inside the cabin. Blind spot monitor and the premium Harman Kardon audio system will make this one cost over $70,000 with the Mega Cab.
