By The new generation of the Ram HD models is on its way. Despite we are still a couple of months away from an official launch, it looks like we already know pretty much everything about the new model. The convoy of the testing models has been spotted on the road and for the first time, the new models come completely unveiled, without any form of camouflage. Therefore, we can look at this as an unofficial premiere of the 2020 Ram 2500 Diesel. The styling looks pretty much expected, though there are some pretty interesting details around. Of course, one of the most interesting things will be an updates diesel engine. Expect that the 2020 Ram 2500 Diesel release date will be scheduled for this fall.
2020 Ram 2500 Diesel Redesign
In terms of base 2020 Ram 2500 Diesel specs, there is a whole bunch of novelties. Of course, the new model relies on the light-duty 1500 model. It rides on the same platform, which has brought a range of improvements, starting from weight reduction, improved ride quality and more. This version will, naturally, comes with additional upgrades which will provide stronger chassis, which is crucial for excellent working capabilities.
In terms of the styling, the new model will have a lot in common with base 1500 models. As it was expected, the famous crosshair grille design has been dropped. The new one looks similar to the 1500’s one, though it is bigger and more massive. More precisely, there is a couple of different grille designs, which differ depending on the trim level. For example, the Longhorn features a typical horizontal-bar grille, with tons of chrome. On the other side, range-topping trim levels will feature mesh grille patterns. Other than that, the 2020 Ram 2500 Diesel closely resembles the base light-duty model, though it delivers a more rugged stance, with more bigger grille, higher and more muscular hood and similar details. Of course, we count on various configurations in terms of cab layouts, bed sizes etc.
Interior
While the exterior look of the new truck is already known, spy photographers didn’t manage to take interior photos. Still, we have no doubt that the new 2020 Ram 2500 Diesel will feature a cabin design that is very similar to the new Ram 1500. If that happens, we have no doubt that the new model will feature the most upscale cabin in the class, full of hi-end materials and with a long list of standard equipment. As we’ve already mentioned, there is no reason why the new model shouldn’t continue with all familiar cab designs in the offer.
Powertrain
One of the most interesting things about this redesign is powertrain. Once again, this truck will come with a variety of engines in the offer. Still, the 2020 Ram 2500 Diesel will take a special place, as it is the most capable version of the truck. A well-known 6.7-liter Cummins will remain, though we are about to see some revisions. The new engine will be quieter and will work more refined. Also, it will be more powerful. Latest reports are suggesting various output variants and base version will probably feature around 400 horsepower and 930 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, a 1000-pound-feet version will probably be reserved for the 3500HD model. Also, we are about to see a new 8-speed automatic transmission paired to this super-capable engine.
2020 Ram 2500 Diesel Release Date and Price
We expect that the new model will hit the market sometime in the third quarter of the year. When it comes to the 2020 Ram 2500 Diesel price, we don’t expect bigger deviations compared to the current model, which starts at around 35.000 dollars.
