2020 Ram 1500 Regular Cab Review

0

The new, fifth generation of the famous pickup truck has been around for a while and you’ve probably noticed that something is missing. Yes, the initial model didn’t come with all body styles in the face. At this moment, only Quad and Crew Cab models are available, while the base Regular Cab model still waits for the initiation. The main reason for this lays in the fact that FCA current has no capacity to produce all three models. Therefore, this version won’t be produced in the famous Warren Truck Assembly Plant, but rather in Mexico, along with bigger brothers, 2500 and 3500 HD models. Latest reports suggest that this will happen by the end of the year and that the new model will come as the 2020 Ram 1500 Regular Cab. Until then, the previous-generation Regular Cab version will remain in the offer.

2020 Ram 1500 Regular Cab Design

In terms of base design characteristics, there is no doubt that the new 2020 Ram 1500 Regular Cab will come with all the amazing features that can be found in bigger cab models. Therefore, count on the company’s latest design and technologies, which bring improvements in many aspects. This version will also come with several exclusivities, such as air suspension, which comes with several upgrades compared to the previous generations, which provides impressive ride quality and equally amazing off-road performances.

Visually, the new model will feature the brand’s latest design language. In practice, this means replacement of the famous crosshair grille and all other novelties that already characterize Quad and Crew Cab models. The 2020 Ram 1500 Regular Cab is about to come with at least two bed sizes in the offer.

Interior

When it comes to the interior, the main difference compared to current models will be lack of the second row. Other than that, the cabin layout will pretty much the same. That’s a great thing to hear, considering that the new generation features arguably the nices cabin in the class, with impressive interior quality, amazing infotainment technologies and lots of standard equipment. Speaking of the standard equipment, keep in mind that this cab design is primarily for work truck models.

So, you probably won’t have the opportunity to choose higher trim levels. Most likely, Tradesman and HFE will be the only trims available with this body style. That would mean that base versions would come standard with tech goodies like 5-inch touchscreen, push-button start, Bluetooth, three USB ports and a rearview camera.

2020 Ram 1500 Regular Cab Engines

One of the interesting novelties that came with this redesign is electrification. The new model may feature familiar engines, but each one comes with eTorque system. It’s not a genuine hybrid system, but rather a system that provides additional power boost and makes start/stop system run smoother. In any case, the 2020 Ram 1500 Regular Cab will come standard with a well-known 3.6-liter V6. This one is good for about 305 horsepower. A bigger 5.7-liter V8 should be in the offer as well. This engine is good for about 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come with 8-speed automatic transmission.

Also, we count on a familiar 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel. Will there be a slight power boost, it is still unknown.
