2020 Chevy Colorado Released With New Design

0

The pickup market is getting tougher these days, especially when it comes to mid-size trucks. The Colorado doesn’t compete only with Tacoma and Frontier anymore. The Ranger has come back, while there is also a brand-new Gladiator. Also, we expect to see another big comeback, in the form of Dodge (Ram) Dakota. Given all these new models, Chevy needs to keep this truck up to date. The current generation dates from 2012 and it looks like we won’t see a full redesign in the next couple of years. The current generation has been updated and the 2020 Chevy Colorado comes with a new look. Upgrades and updates are notable through the whole range of models, though each version comes with a couple of exclusive details.

Other than that, we won’t see any more notable changes. The 2020 Chevy Colorado will carry on with the same mechanics, as well as with a familiar cabin layout. Still, a couple of additions to the list of standard equipment sounds likely. We expect to see it on the market by the end of the year.

2020 Chevy Colorado Styling

The next year is about to bring some pretty interesting changes. The 2020 Chevy Colorado will come with novelties on both ends of the truck. There is a new face, which looks bolder and more rugged than before. The grille is new, as well as the bumper. As you may presume, a lot of inspiration has been taken from the very fresh Silverado 1500. Still, an interesting thing is that each trim level comes with a unique grille design. The range-topping, off-road-oriented ZR2 model looks most attractive. Instead of a familiar badge, it comes with “Chevrolet” lettering on the new black grille, which features the same pattern as the new Silverado.

Of course, this version also comes with various mechanical upgrades over standard models, including lifted suspension, skid plates, off-road wheels and tires etc. Along with the Z71 model, it comes with a new color option in the offer, called Sand Dune Metallic.

When it comes to more basic trim levels like WT and LT, changes are more conventional, so you can count on a good old Chevy emblem, but also things like lower fascia, new skid plates etc.

All models will come with the same novelty on the rear end. It is a nice, retro-like Chevrolet lettering on the tailgate.

2020 Chevy Colorado Specs

When it comes to base specs, we won’t see bigger changes. The 2020 Chevy Colorado will carry on with the same engines in the offer. Base models will come equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is good for about 200 horsepower. Of course, those who prefer something peppier can count on a familiar 3.6-liter V6, which is good for about 310 horsepower. Finally, there is a 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel, which delivers around 180 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque. All three models are great in some ways. A four-cylinder version seems like a perfect choice for fleets, due to affordable price and decent fuel economy. The V6 model provides the best driving experience and also offers a pretty respectable max towing capacity of 7.000 pounds.

Still, the diesel model is the best choice for towing, as max ratings go up to 7.700 pounds. Also, fuel economy is pretty amazing.

Features

When it comes to standard and optional equipment, there is a chance to see some novelties. Still, most of the things are about to remain the same. That means that the base version will come with standard features like a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a six-speaker audio system. In higher trims, you can also get things like navigation, automatic climate control, wireless device charging, an 8-inch touch screen, a seven-speaker Bose audio system, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, additional USB ports. The infotainment system is modern and intuitive, so we don’t expect updates in this aspect.

On the other side, we would like to see a couple of additions in terms of safety features, as a rearview camera is the only standard feature in the current model. Additionally, you can get things like rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning.

2020 Chevy Colorado Release Date and Price

We expect to see 2020 Chevy Colorado by the end of the year. Despite the changes, the price should remain pretty much the same.

The base model will go around 21.500 dollars, while the Extended Cab/long bed configuration will cost you around 25.000 dollars. Crew Cab models will go around 27.000 dollars. When it comes to engines, a great thing to know is that the V6 model is available already at around 26.500 dollars. On the other side, the cheapest diesel model will cost over 36.000 dollars. An off-road performance ZR2 starts at around 41.000 dollars.
