Renault made the right choice when entered the pickup truck market. Well, the partnership with Nissan gave the French carmaker encourage to do so. Also, Alaskan is based on the Nissan Navara, one of the best-selling trucks worldwide. Now, after three years, we can see the new 2019 Renault Alaskan rolling on streets with more options. Soon after the premiere of the concept in 2015, the vehicle entered production. Early life promised good sales. Now, Renault is thinking forward, so after this season we could see some serious upgrades and add-ons for their first pickup.

We will find a lot of similarities between the 2019 Renault Alaskan, Nissan Navara, and Mercedes X-Class. All three trucks are built on the same architecture. But, styling will make them different. Under the bonnet of the 2019 Renault Alaskan, we can find a 2.3-liter diesel unit. The same engine is producing power for Renault Master van. But, for the pickup, it can deliver two power outputs. In the first case, buyers are getting 160 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. That is the dCi 160 model. Upper dCi 190 pickup is capable to crunch 190 hp and 330 pound-feet of torque. The diesel engine is very capable. A dCi 190 offers a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds. That is equal to the US class-leading Chevy Colorado Diesel’s towing capability. A six-speed manual transmission and two-wheel drive are standard. But, for more serious off-road performance, we recommend four-wheel drive and automatic seven-pace gearbox.

The base models are not so interesting, but higher trim levels, with their infotainment features, can lure younger buyers.
