2021 GMC Sierra – What to Expect?

0

Although the GMC’s truck is pretty fresh, it looks like there are changes of the 2021 GMC Sierra to come as well. Despite the recent redesign, light-duty models will come with changes already for the third production year. According to the latest reports, we are about to see a completely new interior design, which will feature much better quality and more attractive aesthetics. Also, we count on a couple of updates in terms of tech features.

On the other side, HD models probably won’t change too much. The new generation is still to come, so we don’t expect modifications already in the second production year. This redesign will bring a lot of novelties and improvements, particularly in terms of performances. There is a new gasoline engine to come, while the turbodiesel version will be able to tow more than 35.500 pounds.

The light-duty model has been redesigned recently. The new generation came with plenty of novelties, starting from a new platform, which saved hundreds of pounds. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see changes for the 2021 GMC Sierra. For the third production year, it looks like the company will make some major interior updates, which seems expected. Simply, the recent redesign hasn’t brought what we expected in terms of the cabin design. If you look closely, you will notice that differences in terms of the dashboard design are minimal. Moreover, the quality of materials remained at the same level.

Therefore, we expect a lot of work from GM designers and engineers. The new 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 should feature much finer materials, new dashboard shape, more attractive color schemes etc. Also, we could see a couple of updates in terms of tech features.

GMC Sierra Interior

Other than an updated interior, the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 will carry on in the same way. The exterior design should remain untouched. The same thing goes for the engine lineup, which consists of several engine options. Base V6 and a new turbo-four are reserved for lower trim levels, while well-known V8 units will be in the offer as well. Also, a new diesel version is coming soon.

2021 GMC Sierra HD

Unlike the light-duty model, the 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD probably won’t feature bigger changes. They will represent the second production year, so it is hard to expect any notable novelty in that case. The new generation is about to hit the market pretty soon and we have big expectations from the new model. The company claims that the whole truck has been overhauled and that there are no carryover parts. The new model rides on a new T1 platform and comes with the completely new styling.

However, that’s not the part that we care about too much. We are more interested in the capabilities of these heavy-duty trucks. One of the important novelties is a new gasoline engine. It is a brand-new 6.6-liter V8 unit, which delivers around 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Still, a well-known 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel remains the real deal. It comes with the same numbers when it comes to power. A max output goes around 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. However, there is a completely new 10-speed automatic transmission, specially designed to deal with such a huge amount of torque.

According to the manufacturer, the new model will have more than 50% higher towing capacity compared to the previous generation. We are talking about class-leading numbers, as the new 2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD will be able to two impressive 35.500 pounds. On the other side, 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD models equipped with a diesel engine will be able to tow about 18.500 pounds.

Release Date and Price

All 2021 GMC Sierra models are expected to hit the market late in the next year. We don’t expect bigger changes in terms of price. Therefore, light-duty models will go around 33.500 dollars. On the other side, HD models will be available at around 38.500 dollars.
