The next year is about to bring interesting changes to the Sierra 1500 and we have no doubt that many of them will come the recently launches off-road version AT4. This model already comes with various upgrades compared to the rest of the lineup, but it looks like we could see even more in the next year. Also, we expect to see all those changes that are about to come to the complete lineup. This particularly refers to the interior design, which is expected to come significantly refreshed. On the other side, the base design characteristics, including the engine lineup, are expected to remain the same.
2021 GMC Sierra AT4 Interior
Of course, the most prominent will be those changes on the inside. I’m sure you already know the story about the current interior, which looks largely the same as in the previous-generation model. The main reason lays in the fact that the company was in a rush to launch a new model and there wasn’t enough time to complete the whole process. This will finally be fixed with the next-year model, which will come with a completely new cabin design. Naturally, we count on all kinds of upgrades, starting from new aesthetics, higher-quality materials, more features etc.
2021 GMC Sierra AT4 Engines
When it comes to the engine lineup, things are about to remain the same. You may count on three familiar units, starting from a well-known 5.3-liter V8, which is good for about 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque and comes in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.
Those who are searching for something peppier can opt for a bigger 6.2-liter unit. This engine also comes with familiar specs, where the max output goes around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Still, this engine comes in pair with a new 10-speed gearbox.
Finally, there is a new diesel option in the offer. This model comes with a 3.0-liter turbodiesel. It delivers around 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and also comes in pair with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
2021 GMC Sierra AT4 Features
Some reports suggest that the 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 could come with additional features when it comes to off-road capability. The current model is definitely more capable than the rest of the lineup. It comes with things like a 2-inch suspension lift, standard four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case, skid plates, monotube shock absorbers, all-terrain tires, hill descent control, and a terrain-selectable traction control system. That’s a nice amount of upgrades, but this model is still far away from something that can be considered as an alternative to the F-150 Raptor. Therefore, we might see a couple of additional upgrades and most reports suggest things like Fox shocks, off-road tires, bigger wheels etc. At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation.
When it comes to the interior standard equipment, we could also see a couple of upgrades in the next year. Still, most of the things should remain the same. So, the list of standard features should include things like an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, and a six-speaker sound system, cargo bed camera and more. Also, count on loads of safety features. Some of the highlights would be things like parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Release Date and Price
The 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 is expected to arrive sometime in the second half of the year. The current model starts at around 51.000 dollars. We don’t expect significant changes in this aspect for the next year. Some of the key competitors will be models like F-150 Raptor, Ram Power Wagon, Toyota Tundra TRD Pro etc.
